I decided on these partly because they were on sale and for their looks. Probably the most attractive I've seen from Northwave. I ordered a 1/2 size smaller than normal and at first they really squeezed my feet, but just after a few rides they are more accomodating. The rachet and dorsal cable laces are very effective locking down the foot as well as easy to adjust on the go. Before theseI used my tri shoes for everything and this was just a big jump never having a pure carbon footbed. BUT, beware the localized plantar pressure that can result so think about insole orthotics to support the arch and distribute stress. Anyway, this shoe is a great deal especially on sale and I'm happy with my first performance/race-level buy.
I like wearing this jacket road, mtb or just walking around. It definitely is waterproof and windproof. Nice stowable hood. As with all shells though, when sweating it will stick to skin so consider a liner to stop that; Gore should have thought of vents - would have been perfect. Orderd a medium; I am 5'11" and somewhat broad-shouldered so at times the chest will be a bit tight but not enough to be a solid negative. It is a bit pricey for just a shell (why I bought it on sale) and lacking some basic features like only a single front pocket on the chest...c'mon. But there is a zipper pocket in back that can double as a semi-effective vent; also an un-snappable flap back there too to cover your butt. I expect to get a lot of use out of this.
Overall an attractive and good-performing shell, but wait 'til it's on sale.
