I ordered this jersey in Large, and it was a bit too tight in the shoulders ( I have broad shoulders for a woman, so finding jerseys that fit is a bit of a challenge). So I ordered an XL, and it fit... almost exactly the same as the L. Really, I could hardly tell the difference between the L & XL. Please, Dakine, if you're going to the trouble of making XL sizes, be sure that it's actually bigger than a Large.
The jersey might have worked except the fabric isn't particularly stretchy. It felt OK except when I stretched out my arms... and then the combination of cut and non-stretchiness of the fabric made me realize that it wouldn't be at all comfortable on a long ride.
These shorts are really nice. The fabric is light but tough, the fit is excellent, and the look is understated yet stylish. Good length, good liner.
Plus I can ride faster now ;-)
Yes, the fit is "tapered," but not narrow on top. This is cut for a large-busted woman, yet the shelf bra is quite lightweight and doesn't provide much support. If this is geared towards the A-B cup gal it needs to be much better fitted through the bust. If it's geared towards C-D there needs to be more support, or get rid of the shelf bra so you can just wear your sports bra. I'm usually a 34C but in the Large there was just too much material and it scrunched in an unattractive way. If I had ordered a Medium the waist would have been too tight, as it is an "hourglass" fit.
I also ordered two different colors, and the fit was markedly different between the white one and the blue one. The straps on the white one were WAY too long, the armholes were too low and baggy. The white one was also see-through, even with the shelf bra. The blue one has a black shelf bra so it's a bit more modest. But due to the odd fit, I returned both.
OK, this is called a "freeride" jersey but the fit is hardly free. I ordered a Large and it's wide in the hips but tight in the chest and shoulders.. It's cut like a blouse, not an athletic top. I would have loved for this jersey to fit but, sadly, back it goes. If you have big hips, small shoulders, and little stick arms it would fit you great.
