SL. Superlight. SuperLeggera. No matter the language, SL translates as tuned, faster, lighter. Zipp's Service Course SL Alloy Seatpost is just that, a lighter version of their Service Course Seatpost. Two things create the 50g weight savings -- more aggressive machine work to remove excess material and the addition of titanium hardware.
Zipp uses a one-piece 3D forged design in 7075 aluminum to make the Service Course SL Alloy Seatpost stiff and strong. It also has a two-bolt clamp assembly that allows a wide range of angle adjustment to a fine degree so that you can perfect your saddle tilt. Once adjusted, the two-bolt assembly simply will not slip out of adjustment.
Zipp engineers paid special attention to the length of the clamp assembly. On the lower portion, they designed to be a bit longer than what you might see on other seatposts. This is to support the saddle rails if you ride with it in a rearward position. And in this day of superlight titanium and carbon rails, the extra support and insurance against saddle damage is a very good thing.
The Zipp Service Course SL Alloy Seatpost is 350mm long and is available in 27.2 and 31.6mm diameters. The clamp setback is 20mm.
- Low-profile clamp allows the saddle to slide farther back along the rails for more fit options
- Micro-adjustment with downward-facing bolts is accessible even if the saddle shell covers the top of the seatpost
- Shaft and head are 3D-forged from a single piece of 7075 aluminum for optimum strength
- More intricate machining than the regular Service Course post further reduces weight
- Titanium bolts ensure a feathery attachment
