SRAM has dabbled in chain guides in the past, but they never reached a level of success that paralleled what was happening with the rest of their drivetrain offerings. No doubt a need existed, but single-ring aficionados reached for proven technology from specialty makers like MRP. The folks at Truvativ, SRAM's crank division, were smart enough to know not to keep swimming upstream and joined forces with MRP to make this X0 ISCG 05 Chain Guide.

With the X0 ISCG 05 Guide, no bash ring is needed. The boomerang, or backing plate, is made from 5mm CNC-machined aluminum alloy and provides the structure to which the rest of the necessary components attach. The trussed polycarbonate skid plate bolts into it in three places so it's a strong system, and if you’re into breaking stuff, the skid plate is replaceable. The upper guide looks like a polycarbonate front derailleur -- that’s what they had in mind when they designed it, though it will actually prevent a chain derailment no matter the terrain. The lower guide uses a jockey wheel running on a sealed bearing to capture the chain and keep it on the bottom of the ring. Both guides are adjusted up and down with a single bolt mounted to the boomerang.

The Truvativ X0 ISCG 05 Chain Guide comes in two sizes to work with either 32-36t or 36-40t front chainrings. It's also available in White or Black. It mounts easily on any frame with an ISCG 05 mount (hardware included).
