These Shimano XTR Trail Disc Brake Metallic Pads have stainless steel backing plates for the pad material. This makes them durable enough to handle the extra heat generated by the metallic pad compound. The Metallic Pad compound has better overall stopping power and lasts longer than the Resin Pads, although they tend to be a bit noisier. The key difference between these Trail pads and the comparable Race pads is the finned radiator that protrudes from the open top of the brake caliper. It's there to dissipate heat and help your brake performance remain at an optimum level while on extended descents. One pair of pads equals one wheel. Buy two pairs to complete your bike.

The Shimano XTR Trail Disc Brake Metallic Pads will work in both the Trail and Race versions of XTR 985 brakes as well as fitting the following Shimano brakes: XTR-M975/966/965, Saint-M800, XT-M776/775/765, SLX-M665, Hone-M601, LX-M585, Deore-M545/535.
