2012 Formula 203mm Rotor w/Adapter

quantity

These are the superlight 203mm rotors that fit any Formula disc brake system. They are, however, compatible with all Formula disc brakes. They have a hub spoke design and drilling pattern that serves dual duty for weight savings and heat dissipation. They use the international standard 6-bolt design found on most wheels, though they can work with Centerlock provided you have the DT Swiss adapter.

Sizing rotors is a difficult call. Luckily, it is easy to swap rotors and move calipers. The easiest way to describe the difference is that the larger the rotor, the heavier duty the application. In very general terms, 160mm rotors are for cross-country, 180mm for all-mountain and some freeride, and 203mm for insane freeride and downhill. But riding style, braking style, and weight should also go into the equation.

Another thing we have found is that many believe they achieve better braking if they put a larger rotor on the front. We see many bikes with a 180mm front rotor and 160mm rear. It makes sense; most of your braking power is on the front wheel. If you think you’re a cross-country type but are almost a Clydesdale, try a 180 in front and 160 in the rear. Another good reason for larger rotor is if you live in a mountainous region where you have many long descents. These are the 203mm rotors.
