The Fizik Antares saddle occupies the middle ground between the Aliante and the Arione. How so? The Antares' length is almost halfway between them, it shares the same width of the Aliante, and it's flat like the Arione. However, it takes its own direction in two critical areas: First is the width of the nose of the saddle at 45mm. Most saddles are barely 40mm wide at the nose, giving the Antares added comfort if you're in the drops, or if you typically ride with a significant saddle-to-bar drop. The other difference is its padding. It has 10mm of padding at the nose (the typical Fizik saddle only has 3mm), and it's this low-profile/high density padding that keeps the Antares light and looking sleek, even though it offers more cushion than the other two saddles.
Another element that adds to the cush, the comfort, the give of the saddle is the carbon-reinforced nylon shell. The shell flexes gently across the entire span between the front and back ends where the rails meet the shell rather than being stiff in some places and forgiving in other.
The K:ium rails are an evolutionary step forward from titanium rails. They're 8% lighter, have greater strength to weight ratio, and damp more vibration. The damping is thanks to the Silicon in the alloyed mixture. The shiny look is thanks to the chrome content, and it increases corrosion resistance, which helps with overall durability.
The Fizik Antares K:ium Saddle is Black/red or White/black. Its length is 274mm, and it's 142mm at the widest point. The Antares possesses Fizik's Integrated Clip System (ICS), a means by which to attach a Fizik light or saddle bag directly to the saddle without the need for straps. The Antares K:ium Saddle is 175g.
