If the National Racing Calendar standings are indicative of a wheel's speed, then the front wheel in the Easton EC90 TT 90/90 Carbon Tubular Wheelset is one of the fastest around. Bissell pro riders, almost a time-trial specialty team, piloted it to TT victories from coast to coast.

These wheels have a wind tunnel- and race-proven, super slick 90mm deep rim. It's the fastest front wheel around at yaw angles of five and 15 degrees and among the best at other yaws. Easton has sharpened the trailing edge of the rim to minimize drag and to maximize speed. The front wheel also utilizes Easton's R4 TTSL front hub with a narrowed, 50mm spoke flange width, winged end caps, and only 12 bladed spokes. The narrower hub reduces the spoke frontal area by 50% in comparison with their standard road hub. The low spoke count almost speaks for itself -- the only other wheel running so few is made by Lightweight. The rear wheel uses the same 90mm rim, but adds four spokes for a total of 16. The lightweight alloy spoke nipples are hidden inside the rim and are more aero and thus faster.

Despite the EC90 TT wheel's stout behavior, they are also very light for their depth. This is thanks to VNB (Variable Nipple Bed) technology where they have less carbon on the spoke bed between the spokes and more at the nipples. VNB is new, and it's something we expect to see spread to other Easton wheels in the future.

The rear hub is Easton's R4 SL design. Along with the super aero front hub, they're 36 grams lighter per set than the older R4 hubs, plus they include ceramic bearings (grade three hybrid ceramic), a pared down rear axle, and the lightened R4 SL cassette body. Both wheels have a tool-free bearing preload adjustment on the 7050 aluminum axles, and the pawl carrier has been redesigned to be wider and have a larger diameter to improve its ability to resist flex under high-torque loads.

The Easton EC90 TT Carbon 90mm Tubular Wheelset is available with either a Campagnolo or Shimano/SRAM freehub body. The Sapim bladed stainless steel spokes are the fastest bladed spokes on the market. They're laced to the 21mm wide rim with a radial pattern on the front wheel, while the rear is radial on the non-drive and cross-two on the drive side. A full set of brake pads is included along with front and rear quick releases. Easton hand built wheels do not have rider weight limits.
