The Easton EA90 SL clincher wheelset takes some cues from the EA70, but upgrades everything. Let's start at the center of things: The hubs. These hubs are a step up from the EA70s. You can see it in the smoother, smaller shape. Not surprisingly, these hubs, known as the R4 to Easton, are lighter. They have tool-free bearing preload adjustment on both wheels, the upgraded bearings have hybrid seals, and the axles are made from 7050 aluminum. The 7050 aluminum freehub body has been aggressively machined as well, making it 22g lighter than the C3 cassette body on the EA70. Even the pawl carrier has been redesigned to be wider, and it has a larger diameter to improve its ability to resist flex under high-torque loads.
The 20mm wide Gen4 rims are an upgrade as well as they're now welded at the joint for strength before the sidewall is machined for smooth and powerful braking. The rims are also of differing heights. The front rim is 21mm deep for lightness and easy crosswind handling. The rear rim is 25mm deep for greater stiffness and aerodynamics.
The Easton EA90 SL Clincher Wheelset is available in 700c and you can select between Campagnolo or Shimano/SRAM compatible freehubs (although they are interchangeable). The Sapim spokes are double-butted and straight-pull. The front wheel is radially laced while the rear is radial on the non-drive and cross-two on the drive. There are 24 front spokes and 28 rear. All of the spoke nipples are alloy, save for the drive-side rear spokes which use brass nipples. The wheels come with quick releases and rim strips. Easton wheels do not have rider weight limits, and all are hand built to ensure proper tension and trouble free riding.
