The Rapha Classic Sportwool Jersey is a short-sleeve jersey that includes a bonus set of matching armwarmers. A jersey of this quality certainly doesn't need any add-ons to make it desirable. But our sense is that Rapha wanted to plainly state that the Sportwool is a jersey you can stylishly and comfortably ride in for all 12 months of the year.

The Sportwool Jersey has received numerous plaudits since it was first launched a few years back. To their credit, though, Rapha refused to rest on their laurels and they've redesigned it for 2009 so it could continue to vie for the title of "the finest cycling jersey money can buy." The design of details such as the "bite grip" has been improved and the addition of side panels gives the jersey a close racing fit. For the discerning rider who wants clothing more in keeping with the performance of his high-end machine, the Rapha Jersey is the standard for performance roadwear.

It's no secret that for dedicated cyclists a good jersey is an indispensable workhorse, performing multiple roles: protecting you from the elements, carrying important cargo (from tools and valuables to food), regulating body temperature for maximum performance on the bike. Before you do a double-take on the concept of riding in wool, keep in mind that Sportwool keeps you cooler than performance polyesters because its complex natural fibers work harder to attract moisture vapor and draw it away from your skin. The fabric feels soft and luxurious. As well as keeping you drier and cooler, Sportwool has lower air permeability than 100% polyester, giving you greater wind and chill protection. It's also naturally anti-bacterial and odor resistant (no more unwelcome stains and smells). It has natural elasticity for comfort and natural UV protection. It looks and feels nicer than polyester but works harder too. And it's durable and easy to care for: machine washable and quick to dry.

This edition comes with new armwarmers, brush-lined and with contrast piping. The black jersey comes with white armwarmers. Please note that Rapha supplies three different sized armwarmers depending on the size of the jersey you select.
