Slip through the air and hit your numbers.

The ENVE SES 6.7 Carbon Wheels are at the forefront of aerodynamic technology, and, paired with the G3 Powertap, they are an untouchable powerhouse. You’ll have a race-worthy package that gives you all the numbers, when you need them.

The SES 6.7 is the same carbon clincher that ENVE sells as its deep section, wind-cheating race rim. Like all of the SES series, the rims were designed with optimal aerodynamics and handling before aesthetics. This accounts for the size differentiation of the rims. While the front is 60mm deep and 26mm wide, the rear wheel is 70mm deep and 24mm wide. And while the narrower rear rim may seem like a non-sequitur, it provides additional stability due to the movement of air around the frame. Constructed with a patented process of in-molding spoke holes, nipple seats, and valve stem holes, the SES 6.7s have the highest strength-to-weight ratio in the industry.

To this end, the G3 is a redesign of Powertap’s previous hub. It features an 80-gram reduction, even over the SL+ model, making it the lightest Powertap yet. And, to ensure that the rigidity of the hub matches that of the wheelset, Powertap reduced the hub profile and widened the flanges. And using the extra space, the electronics have been moved to the endcap for user-friendly serviceability. Like the latest from Powertap, the G3 features an ANT+ wireless transmitter that sends power, torque, speed, and virtual cadence data to either your Powertap Joule GPS or any other ANT+ compatible CPU. The G3 design has the reliable "torque tube" with eight strain gauges, yielding measurements accurate within +/- 1.5% between 40 and 130 rpm.

Each G3 SES 6.7 Clincher Wheelset is hand-built in the USA with DT Swiss Aerolite Spokes, and it features the 99-gram Powertap front hub. The new front hub design features a beefed up 10mm axle, an aluminum hub shell, and 6901 aluminum sealed bearing cartridges. Powertap also claims that the complete wheelset only tips the scales at around 1660 grams, and given that the ENVE SES 6.7 wheelset weighs around 1573 grams, we're inclined to believe them.

Pretty Cool, but

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Got this wheelset for my wifes TT bike and ordered an extra set of brake pads so I could use them occasionally on my aero bike; good thing I ordered the extra pads b/c this wheelset came with none. Actually, the box they came in contained the wheelset, the skewers, and literally nothing else. No warranty paperwork, no manuals, no brake pads, no valve extenders, no marketing propaganda, nothing. Not even info on how to register the wheels. At this price point I expect more. I don't even know how to replace the battery on the powertap - perhaps this is their way of getting you to visit the ENVE/POWERTAP websites? A little disappointing. Wheels themselves look amazing and I'm certain will perform well.

I've got a 2013 (pre 22) SRAM Red Groupset. Will this work with my existing setup or can I get a different freehub body?

Best Answer Responded on

This wheelset is either 11 or 10 speed compatible in the Shimano variant (which will also work with SRAM). All you'd need to do is run the spacer on there for your 10 Speed SRAM Red
