Didn't like the fit
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I really wanted to like this but it fit very odd. Really high on my little head. Looks great though.
Saved my head
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I no doubt would have been in much worse shape if it hadn't been for the MIPS on this helmet. I still ended up with a pretty serious concussion, but I do believe the MIPS did its job and will have a hard time riding any other helmet in the future.
Fit is great, my head is a 59 or so and I ride the L/XL size and its almost fully tightened down, the helmet breathes well on hot Utah days, but offers more protection than a lot of other helmets on the market. I would highly suggest this helmet to those looking for the top of the line in protection.

I hava a Trabec Race (M/L) that fits perfectly! I went out looking for the MIPS and the M/L is tjght on the sides and the XL feels good in the smallest setting but kind of "slides" a little bit on the head (without feeling loose) front to back and side to side. They tell me this is normal on MIPS, is that correct? Should I get a larger size than usual on the MIPS model?
MIPS makes it smaller.

I ordered this helmet when they had it in a M/L and it was too small. They made it with the MIPS system (good) but POC didn't make room for the MIPS plastic liner. The MIPS liner also squeaks very annoyingly on the styrofoam. Anyway... I sent it back. I'm not giving up tho.. I do plan on getting a MIPS Bike and Ski helmet.

What's the deal with sizing? It seems like you have only XS/S and XL/XXL available. What about people with average-sized heads?
People with average-sized heads are responsible for buying out all the intermediate sizes, that's why only the fringe sizes are left. It's just because they're out of stock, but if you call them up they'll be able to tell you when more are coming in.
My head looks big but it's protected!
It's about time that there are advances in helmet technology - after doing my research I found that the MIPS technology is just that - pretty revolutionary. Because I am not the most smooth out on the trail and I live in a place with single track that's bordered with all kinds of objects that can dent my head, I felt this was a good investment. It's an investment but it seems like the technology is there to call for it. The only drawback is that it makes my head look even larger than it already is... Sigh... :)

Anyone have any issues with glare from the underside of the visor on the white or blue models? I like the white, as it seems like it would be cooler in the So Cal heat, but I'm concerned about glare...

The first time I hit the race course in this helmet I went over the handle bars and hit my head pretty hard. I actually felt the liner rotate until my head was at a more natural angle and I got up and finished the race. It felt like it saved my neck from whiplash as much as my head from a concussion. this helmet also fits perfectly, has great air flow and the way the liner is positioned, every time I take it off I have a perfectly sculpted mohawk.

The new MIPS technology mimics one of the safety systems which already exist in the human head. When the head is subjected to an oblique impact, the brain can slide along a membrane on the inner surface of the skull, which reduces the forces transmitted to the brain. This protective feature has, with the MIPS technology, been incorporated into the helmet. In a helmet equipped with MIPS technology, the shell and the liner are separated by a low friction layer. When subjected to an oblique impact, the low friction layer allows a small rotation of the shell relative to the liner. Experimental tests shows a significant reduction of the forces to the brain. Accident statistics show that the most common accident occurs in an oblique impact to the head, resulting in a ?rotation of the head and brain.
The brain is more sensitive to oblique impacts than radial impacts. However, according to the helmet test regulations, the helmets are dropped vertically onto the impact surface, resulting in a radial force to the head. This is why helmets today have good protective properties for vertical impacts while the protection is not optimized for oblique impacts. MIPS AB has therefore developed MIPS technology to provide substantially increased protection against oblique impacts.
