A new shape for new race records.

First things first -- we understand that the POC Tempor Helmet looks, well, unconventional. But, need we remind you that nearly every aerodynamic product initially tests our aesthetic palate? Eventually, the functionality of the design envelops its character and the shapes of speed become exciting. With that said, the Tempor holds a shape that's definitely never been executed before. Accordingly, this leads us to the obvious question, what power does this design hold?

Well, if you're familiar with the POC line of mountain helmets, you're aware that POC designs with safety at the forefront of the creative process. Along these lines, with all of its M.D.s, reading the staff roster at POC's development lab is more like reading a hospital directory than that of a engineering facility. So, rest assured that with on-staff medical directors in specialities ranging from neuroscience to orthopedics, your safety is of the utmost importance to POC. However, POC also understands the differences between mountain and time trial helmets -- mainly that the latter must live with a duality of function, or more simply put, combine aerodynamics with safety. Not surprisingly, the shape of the Tempor feeds into both.

Essentially, the engineers at POC redefined the art of helmet design for the Tempor, taking on a more conceptualized approach. Instead of viewing the head as an independent part of the body, POC shifted its focus to include the head and body as a singular mass. This is where the signature trailing edge and profile shapes originate from. And as a result of this coordination, airflow remains attached over a larger section of the rider's body, drastically improving the aerodynamic position. And while this sounds great on paper, we assure you that POC confirmed it in the wind tunnel. During this exhaustive testing process, POC discovered that the two main points of skin friction on a time trial helmet occur at the center of the forehead and on the shoulders. Accordingly, the Tempor gains its sloping, wide profile and two large ventilation ports at the forehead. What do they do? Well, the profile eliminates the wind eddies of standing air at the shoulders, and the ventilation ports direct airflow through the helmet instead of forcing it around the helmet. Additionally, there are two strategically located exit vents around the ear area of the helmet. So, air comes through the frontal vents and cleanly exits out the sides, reducing both drag and wind resistance. And of course, they also provide an exceptional level of cooling comfort.

Now, when we said 'exhaustive testing,' we meant it. In fact, POC developed the Tempor with the aerodynamic specialists at Semcon -- a global engineering firm with a focus on innovative design. Through this partnership, the Tempor experienced stringent field tests and tunnel simulations. The focus was on both kinetics and aerodynamics, and the simulations extended to the range of 60 billion projections. For some perspective, the Tempor helmet alone underwent 20% of the aerodynamic testing that an entire Formula 1 car receives. The end result left POC feeling comfortable enough to proclaim that the Tempor is not only the safest time trial helmet, but the fastest as well.

Visibility and comfort also played major roles in the Tempor design. With all of the aforementioned testing and development, POC achieved a structure that permits a more natural body position. This means that your aerodynamic race position will require less neck strain and will benefit from an enhanced visibility, which has been furthered through the incorporation of the Tempor's polycarbonate visor.

The POC Tempor Helmet is available in the sizes Medium/large and X-Large/xx-large and in the colors Hydrogen White and Pocito Orange.
