Description

POC's low-profile Spine VPD 2.0 Jacket provides moto-rated protection (Certified EN 1621-2 Level 2), yet fits nicely under a long sleeve jersey. To accomplish this, POC uses high-tech VPD (Visco-Elastic Polymer Dough) foam that's flexible enough to conform for a comfortable fit, but stiffens upon impact.

The result is some of the most effective protection on the market for the spine, chest, shoulders, and elbows. The shoulder panels are 3D-molded and deliver wraparound protection without compromising freedom of movement — and, Kevlar reinforcements are added throughout so the Spine VPD 2.0 will stand up to abuse. Additionally, the 3D-molded back protector offers crucial spinal protection with an additional anti-penetration barrier.

At the front of the Spine VPD 2.0, an asymmetric zipper keeps structural integrity while ensuring easy donning. The wide, stretchy waist band that protects the jelly roll is adjustable via a hook-and-loop fastener, and it's removable for a custom fit. For ventilation, mesh, along with perforations in the VPD, is used extensively and allows the air to flow.

The POC Spine VPD 2.0 Jacket comes in Black and in three sizes: Small, Medium, and Large.

Unanswered Question

What measurements do I need to take into account when ordering the POC Spine VPD 2.0 Jacket?

Comfortable

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Wore this while snowboarding and although I didn't fall It felt comfortable and didn't hinder motion. Its a bit pricey but I think it's worth the investment, back plate does ride up and I'm thinking up a fix for that. Possibly a dap of silicone or maybe Velcro tape...

Will post my fix once I've weighed all the options.

*edited after a big fall on some rails. I fell flat on my back on a rail and although I saw some stars from the impact. I did have a helmet on it was barely noticeable hitting on my back with this spine protector on. Just felt the jolt of impact but no pain and no bruise. I've seen photos of others who have hit harder and they have a bruise with the air hole imprints in there skin. I think a bruise is better than some broken bones.

I used a needle and thread and just added a few stitches to the top and bottom keeps the back plate from sliding up into my neck

Comfortable but back plate slides

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I really love this armor jacket, however I've had to take the back plate out as it tends to slide up too much and hit the back of my neck/head - which doesn't feel very comfortable when riding. It might be because I have a curved back. The waist belt doesn't help to keep it in place either. I do highly recommend it though. I wear a dry fit t-shirt underneath and a jersey on top and it has been totally comfortable even on 90 degree days. Shoulder and elbow pads fit well. I'm 5'4 and 144lb and use a size XS/S - perfect.

What determines the availability of this and other products on back order?

Is it a manufacturing issue or volume of sales?

Hi DBG3238148,

Great question! An item that is backordered could be due to a variety of reasons. Typically manufacturer availability is the most common. It is fairly common with new products just coming to market, otherwise it can be due to sourcing all the resources needed for said item. Other times it may be a distribution channel we go through is out of stock of the particular item. With all the products we have on our website, it would be incredibly difficult (and costly) to store every item for purchase so items that are purchased less frequently sometimes will require an order to placed for them once a customer purchases them. If you have any additional questions regarding backorders, especially on a particular item, please feel free to contact our customer service department at 888-276-7130.
