Item # POC0069

The helmet you can flow with.

POC designers made a few upgrades to last year’s design and the Receptor Flow Bike Helmet was reborn with a slimmer profile, an adjustable fit, and the same high-quality impact protection. All of these goodies were achieved while lowering the weight of the Receptor Flow so you can concentrate more on what you’re doing. Customize the fit of your new favorite helmet to make sure it doesn’t knock around when spotting the landing for a nasty 360.

Not designed for the ladies

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really WANTED to like this helmet, but after almost 10,000 miles I definitely won't be buying another one. The velcro on the inside is really great at ripping your hair out...and rarely stays in place. Additionally, the foam inserts WILL fall out sooner or later and getting a replacement is a pain. Also, now that I've started riding much longer distances (100 mile days) in drop bars, the weight of this helmet has become an issue. Probably great for dudes on shorter rides, but ladies...I'd go with a Giro, or if you have the dough, a Smith.

Awesome Head Gear

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This helmet is extremely well made and stylish to boot. Light wieght while still giving you confidence when bombing down a trail. Speer fast delivery from Backcountry!

Sturdy Helmet

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I had to return this helmet just because it didn't fit my head well. It felt tight. I have POC Trabec M/L which fits well. The M/L in this model was too tight.

Other tan the fit it looks like a great helmet. Well built and sturdy. It sat low and didn't look goofy.

Awesome blue!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The color of this helmet really makes it. I bought the very intense royal blue color with a flat finish looks really good. The fit is good with very thick padding which would probably accommodate a variety of head shapes and sizes. The chin strap fabric is smooth and comfortable. Not too heavy for a commuter type helmet.

great BMX helment

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've worn POC helmets for other types of cycling and they have always been excellent and the Receptor flow held up to their standards. Very well made all around. I bought this for my son who has really like it and said it's very comfortable while in actual use with no issues. He usually wears a M and was the same in the POC.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a nice helmet. Fits great, sizing is spot on. Haven't had to "test it" yet, but it seems well made and should protect my head if needed.

I love this helmet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I admit that I bought the Receptor Flow for the looks. It's good that it's safe too, but I've never tested that. I do everything with this lid, from rock climbing to skiing to biking, though I don't think it's certified for the former two. When I got it, it fit funny, but after a while, it broke in and got comfortable. Though my head should be a 'large' I bought the Xl/xxl size so I could wear a hat beneath it and it fits great because of the adjustment system. the only complaint is one I've seen before, the front pad's polygiene layer is coming apart from the foam. They send you another one with the helmet and if worst comes to worst, it's not hard to glue it in. besides that, it's really well built and I don't foresee any build issues.

Also, way less important, but Go Pro curved mounts fit the helmet really well.

Ventilation is okay, not the greatest, but not bad either.

Depending on where you live, people might ask you about it. It's definitely a unique, cool looking helmet that I genuinely love and trust that I feel was (and still is) worth the money.

Great Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The POC Receptor Flow helmet is a great alternative to your typical race style bike helmet. I use it when riding around town or to the nearest grocery store. It’s comfortable, sits low on my head, and looks great. If you’re between sizes, pick the bigger size. I don’t think I have a huge head, but the XL/XXL is barely big enough.

Best In Class

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have a hard time finding helmets to fit so i was nervous to buy but super happy with it. size adjust system is awesome. helmet has a nice snug fit, super comfy and stays in place no matter how rough the conditions are!

Great dirt jumping helmet

I bought this as my dirt jumping helmet, its super comfortable and makes you feel protected. It breathes well and its so light weight that after a few minutes of wearing it you will forget it is even on your head.

    Great helmet!

Bought this for my 13 year old son to use while skating and cycling and so far nothing but good things from him. It's comfortable and he loves the style which means he'll wear it! Got a great deal here at Backcountry too!

      Addicted to POC

I've had this helmet for some time now, over a yr, and it has met my every expectation. I use this helmet when I ride my MTB 3-4 times a week (even winter) and ski as much as I can, its even been used for kayaking. It the winter I was worried i would get too cold with the helmet on because I couldn't wear it with a hat, but I've never had an issue. I would recommend wearing a buff or bandana to cover your ears during winter use but other than that its fine. When biking its hardly noticeable except for when it saves me :) There is only 1 issue for me and that is the pad for the forhead only lasted me 6months, luckily the helmet came with a spare which has held up so far but i doubt I'll get another 3-4 months out of it. I don't know if it's me or the pad but this will be something I need to replace every so often. But it's not enough for me to ditch the helmet

        Great All Around Helmet

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I may have commandeered my boyfriend's helmet, it's that good. He has an older model of the Receptor Flow, and the thing has held up over years of continuous use. Use it in the summertime for biking, and I use it in the winter for skiing (just throw on a beanie underneath and you're set). Very comfortable, no issues with it sliding around or coming apart. I would definitely recommend measuring your head to get the right size, I was surprised that I was in an XL.

        Great Commuter Helmet

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

First, Backcountry is awesome. Customer service is great, and provided excellent product knowledge re: POC's helmet fit. In terms of the POC Receptor Flow, it is a great commuter helmet. Color is excellent, and fit is perfect. I'd give it 5 stars, but the only short coming I have encountered is that the lining on the inside pad that rests against your forehead came off after about a month of riding every day in the hot, humid Texas heat. There is a replacement pad that comes with the helmet, but then what? At the time of this review, I have not reached out to Backcountry's customer service to find out. If Backcountry can advise how I can get extra frontal lobe pads for this great helmet, I'll change my rating to 5 stars. I'll be looking to replace my existing mountain bike helmet soon with the POC Trabec helmet.

        Little on the heavy side

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Was trying to find a good bike helmet for my 4-year old son. Compared this to the Giro Section and the Giro was a fair amount lighter than the POC. This still seems like a great helmet but I opted for a lighter version.

        Poc Rocks

Just picked this up after getting a POC full face and loving it. My old Giro surface bounced around like a bobble head but this fits great. Poc is usually over the top price wise but this is very reasonable for the quality and fit. Its not highest tech of adjustable fit systems (just uses some velcro flaps) but Im still happy with how it feels. Also not the best ventilation but better than alot of similar lid. Guess Ill need a Trabec for the hot xc rides. Ive got a small head for a guy and am wearing M/L. Generally Im in a M Giro/Bell.

          great helmet!

I love this helmet. The green is bright and easy to see. It's warm and has been keeping my head warm with only an earband in the cold weather. It seems to be built more substantially and offer more protection than typical bicycle helmets. The fit is tight on my head and very comfortable. Couldn't ask for more.

            Ranks High in the Line-Up

I've had the helmet (orange color - very reflective) for awhile and I compared it to my other "head-banging-deterrences" - sixsixone's "recon xc", giro's "hex" - (the sixsixone's "brigade II" was not entered) Actually, this helmet is very good for my practice DH runs. Ventilation is well, solid fitting, very well constructed. My only con w/the helmet is that I went ape with the additional stickers - as if POC on the side wasn't enough! It is well liked on the hills. And, is it me or just that sixsixone and poc gear are very interestingly, colored-coordinated?

              Arrive-alive MEETS Cute&cool

I LOVE this helmet. I'm a prof at a university. I bike to work & wearing a GOOD helmet is a MUST. I was worried about pulling up to class with a helmet on, but I actually get compliments on this one! Looking at the info online, it appears that the helmets with long visors actually contribute to the torque on the upper spinal cord (i.e., the distance from the edge of visor to the neck is increased & therefore damage to the neck can be increased) if/when the head/helmet hit the pavement. So the round-front of the POC helmet not only looks skater-esque, but it may actually be safer than those alien-dean-shaped pointy helmets. Also note that the Snell Foundation, though excellent, rates helmets per their ability to withstand impact to the head. This doesn't take into account protection of the neck.
