Are these longer than the DH knee guards?...

Posted on

Are these longer than the DH knee guards? Can't decide whether or not to go for these or the DH ones to use for freeriding and downhilling. Also, is there VPD padding all the way from the top to the bottom on the front of the guard? As in, does it provide the same areas of protection as other hard shell guards? I just ordered the VPD jacket so I'm looking to upgrade my whole arsenal of protective gear to POC. I will be riding at Trestle, Angel Fire, Keystone and other DH/FR places during this season. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

POC knee/shin pad

I run 'em under my snow pants while snowboarding. The fit is a little off when I put them on but when they heat up a bit they get softer and I can hardly tell they're there... until I smash my shins into a rail and I ride away unscathed. The shin pad extends to the top of my snowboard boot (Burton Raptor) and rests there so they don't slide down at all but it doesn't seem like they would any way.

Keep Stealing

These are my wifes and she is starting to get angry with me for stealing them from her. They are way comfortable for downhilling and even for pedaling and I find they offer almost as good as protection as the burly hard plastic ones. They have rotated and slipped down on me during a crash, but I'll take some responsibly for not having them properly cinched down. Great all around knee pad.
