The best

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I ride in so-cal dry shale and rocks ..and love the downhills and little jumps and kickers ......knee pads are critical. This is my second pair of these pads . My old ones are over 10 years old and the Velcro straps are stretched out and have lost their griping / sticking power. But still stayed up pretty darn well . I still use them in my snowboard kit . This new pair feel a bit tighter and the top strap is thicker and stronger . Many people have commented that they run small. I would say that they start out a bit tight but because the material forms to your body slowly I have no problem wearing these for my 2-3 hour local rides . I do sometimes push them down while climbing or leave them in my pack till I get to the top or the sketchy downhills. As far as crash protection , these are the absolute best. ! I crashed my knee on a railroad tie recently and these pads saved me. Also the outer material is somehow rip proof . My old pair has been crashed on so many times and still has no rips . Another thing is how nice these are to kneel down on while doing any trail side maintenance ! Yeah, they are expensive but your knees are worth it !

Runs small

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I followed the measurement instructions and ordered a medium but when trying on at home I could feel it compressing my hamstring just sitting in a chair. Ordered the L and fit better. Only 1 day testing and it stayed up while pedaling and secure in the DH bike park. A lit warm but it?s summer and hot in WV. I?m a wimp and would not be getting air or anything crazy but this seemed like a good idea just in case...
