POC Joint VPD 2.0 DH Knee Guard $0.00
As tough as they come.
When it comes to designing body armor, the good folks at POC don't mess around. The DH line is their toughest. By using a flexible hard shell over their incredible VPD padding, POC's designers have built one of the toughest, most comfortable knee pads we've ever seen. The Joint VPD 2.0 DH Knee Guard also extends down the shin for a greater area of protection.
Generally speaking, there are two types of body armor: soft, flexible armor that's designed to be comfortable and hard-shell armor that's designed to absorb huge impacts. As logic would dictate, the soft stuff doesn't protect as well and the hard stuff isn't as comfortable. Well, now there's a third kind of armor–POC VPD. As far as we can tell, it's magic. VPD is a soft, flexible foam material that conforms to the contours of your body. However, in the event of an impact, it hardens instantly to provide the protection of a hard shell. It truly is the best of both worlds. Not only that, but VPD is a true multi-impact armor, so the protection level during your 20th crash is the same as it was during your first. This is especially important because a fall can often involve several impacts. You don't want your protection level to drop off over the course of a fall, because that last hit might be the hardest.
VPD is lightweight, soft, and flexible, so it's some of the most comfortable armor that we've tried. Another reason that VPD is so comfortable is efficient airflow. POC riddles its VPD material with vents so air flows freely in and out to keep your skin dry and cool, so you don't roast in the heat of the summer and get that nasty, clammy feeling under your pads. The main body of the knee guard is abrasion-resistant Kevlar-reinforced stretch fabric. POC also uses a static Crash Retention Strap to keep the guard from slipping out of place. At the kneecap itself, POC covers the VPD with a flexible hard shell cap to make the Joint VPD 2.0 DH Knee Guard tough enough to handle the most brutal digger.
The POC Joint VPD 2.0 DH Knee Guard comes in Black and is available in Small, Medium, and Large.

Says size large in the drop down is that...
Says size large in the drop down is that correct as the previous answer said small? Does it have the rubberized grip material on the inside of the upper knee like the regular non DH VPD model has to help hold it?
What is the difference between these knee...
What is the difference between these knee pads and these ones?
Are they on sale because they are an older model?
Those are the same model, we are just selling the older inventory in a size small to make room for some of the new stock. If you are a size small, thats a great way to get a deal on some fantastic Poc protection.
Best I have tried (Knee + Elbow Review)
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I have yet to find the perfect pad. Most fall off, many have inadequate protection. POC VPD DH Knee and Elbows are the best I have tried. The protection is awesome! Hard cap over VPD is a perfect combination that has most likely kept me out of the ER. The pads stay on better than any I have tried. My only complaint is fit. I am a big guy and the L pads are too poochy in spots such as around the calf -odd since I have seen brick outhouses built smaller than me. The medium are a bit snug . I am running medium and stop noticing the snugness after I start pedaling. I give 3 starts but seriously these are the best pads I have used! It's just that no one is making a 5 start pad in my opinion.
Update - did a lot of lower body work over the winter and my thighs grew. Pads are now very tight. I have grown into a situation where I am between sizes for POC. Thigh measures 22" above the knee with 16" calf. Med too small. Large is just right above knee and too poochy around knee and calf.
At least they are comfy

Soo at first I was pretty pumped on this product and POC in general. It is super comfy, seemed like it protected well, no strap rub...sweet. Then I actually took a fall with them on and they slid off just as easily as they went on. My knee got cut up pretty nicely. The calf strap (that thing keeps them from sliding down in a fall) is wimpy and super stretchy.
I still wear them, but I have a lurking fear they won't be there when I need them. Oh and if you do have a problem with them good luck getting help from POC customer service, they aren't really into their customers or servicing them.
Another great POC protection product
I am a huge fan of the POC protection equipment, finding pads that stay in place has been a challenge for years, thanks to POC I don't have to worry about it anymore.
I bought these after using the pOC joint VPD knee pads for increased protection when riding DH, the pads offer tons of protection and don't rub on the frame when riding and I don't feel like as much of a storm trooper when I am armored up.
