Protection without the bulk.

Downhill mountain bike gloves don't have to be recycled motocross gloves. After all, cycling gloves need to be light and breathable as well as strong and protective. You can be glad that POC's Index DH Gloves are treated as cycling gloves. This way, you'll know that even though they offer all the safety you need, you'll still have a sensitive grip on the bars and a light trigger thumb for accurate shifts when it counts.

The back of the hand is made with a nylon mesh that extends down to the first knuckle, where it's covered with a protective layer of synthetic suede. The real story of the Index DH Gloves is about the knuckle guards. All of your major and second knuckles and the third knuckles on the two outside fingers have VPD knuckle protectors, which are soft and flexible until they detect an impact, when they instantly become stiff and shock-absorbent. This will keep things smooth on the outside, while creating custom divots for your knuckles on the inside. And if you like to cut inside corners close at high speed, you know that sometimes your knuckles can bear the brunt of a miscalculation. The Index DH VPD knuckle guards will keep you from injury and from offending any spectators lining the DH course. The palm is a synthetic suede with a special cut structure and a patterned texture for better grip. Silicone gel padding at the usual impact areas protects your hand from damage in the event of an over-the-bars incident.

POC hooked the Index DH up with a few other small conveniences that come in very handy. Silicone dots on your braking fingers ensure good grip on the brake levers. A terry cloth sweat wipe on the thumb lets you mop up perspiration before it drips down into your goggles. POC uses Airprene for the cuff because it offers good stretching and flexing around the wrist. And when you have it pulled right into place, a hook-and-loop tab will cinch it perfectly snug.

The POC Index DH Gloves are available in Uranium Black and come in sizes X-Small through X-Large.
