Subdue the green-eyed monster.

The fourth stage of this year's Giro brought two argyle-related entities to our attention. First, the youthful Italian Formolo proved his merit by holding off a veteran field of chasers to win the stage with a solo move. Second, his victory salute was made while wearing POC's DO Half Blade Team Edition Sunglasses. Along with the Octal Raceday Team Edition Helmet, we've been watching Cannondale-Garmin wear these glasses all spring with pangs of kit hound jealousy, so we're pleased to announce that POC is placating our envious gaze by releasing the Do Half Blades outside of the peloton.

The glasses' half frames are a synthetic blend called grilamid, which allows for unlimited moldability while keeping weight down and impact resistance up. The anti-fog lenses and hydrophilic rubber inserts handle sweat and muggy climates by keeping your vision clear and the frames securely in place, and the oversized lenses afford a full field of peripheral vision.

The lack of a bottom rim means you'll also see more of the road immediately in front of your tire without glancing down and taking your eyes off of approaching obstacles. These extra few degrees of vision are only frivolous to any cyclist who hasn't tackled sketchy descents at race speeds where you have to keep an eye on approaching hair pin turns but catching your front wheel in a subtle, unnoticed divot or depression can have catastrophic consequences.

Finally, the colorway isn't the only thing designed not to clash with your Canndonale-Garmin Raceday helmet. The DO Half Blades' arms are specially designed to fit under the helmet at the temples while you're employing them for their intended use on bright days in the saddle. In the event of a long, hot climb or a highly stylish mid-ride coffee stop, the arms also secure easily into the helmet's sunglasses garage.
