While POC is a relative newcomer to the eyewear industry, the brand's designs are already successful enough to have its competition seeing red and its sponsored athletes seeing pink. POC's Do Blade Hesjedal Ed Sunglasses honor the cyclist of the same name's career, which began with early success at the U23 mountain bike worlds and culminated in a maglia rosa at the 2012 Giro.
As with the standard model, the Hesjedal Edition's grilamid frames encompass Carl Zeiss lenses that are treated with an anti-fog agent and POC’s Ripel coating. These two finishes work together to make sure fog, dirt, and sweat roll right off. The lenses are also curved on both axes for a distortion-free view, and they’re designed to increase contrast to help make road obstacles easier to see whether your barreling down a descent in the Italian Alps to preserve a GC lead or cruising the sun-dappled back roads of your local training loop.
If, like Hesjedal, your cycling pursuits lead you to different disciplines with different eyewear requirements, the sunglasses include a center bar that quickly releases the standard lens for hassle-free swapping. The hydrophilic rubber nosepiece is also adjustable, and POC added rubber inserts at the temples to eliminate slipping when you start to get sweaty. A vent on each included lens helps keep your field of vision fog-free during slow, hot climbs. The sunglasses noticeably widen at the temples in order to perfectly integrate with POC’s Octal helmet, so if you’re using the Octal already, the Do Blade Racedays will complete your kit.
