soft-water bottle
I have been using Platypus water bottles for about 25 yrs. They are so handy - weigh almost nothing, fit in a purse and go flat when empty. Always carry a 1 liter (which I usually use as a hot water bottle plus 2 of the .5 liter bottles for drinking. I need to replace the .5 liter size, but I can't find them in the catalog now. Is that size not made anymore? I really like that size and use it the most, so I hope that it is still available!

Platypus options
What has happened to the 17 oz 0.5 liter bottle? Can't find a retailer that has them anywhere, sometimes you just need smaller, the 17 oz was great for Chest Rig carry, it wasn't only great for carrying water but I used one for my cooking oil also.

Lightweight but cap does not seal
I bought two of these but the cap does not seal. As others have said the cap does not fit correctly on the bottle so water leaks out. A litre of water inside my rucksack is no fun!!

Older one is better
Still using my six year old platypus, but my recent bicycle model is peeling layers off and is useless!

Have my originals from a decade ago
I’ve got some 1 liter platys that got be a decade old by now. One of them have teeth marks from a hungry porcupine or marmot that was unsuccessful at puncturing m bomb proof booze holder. Only thing to break is the cap which happens to have the same threads as a smart water bottle so easy to replace(atleast on the old ones.)

Won't work with Sawyer
I bought this bottle to use with my Sawyer filter. The Sawyer filter is made to be able to screw onto a regular plastic bottle. This soft bottle has the regular size bottle opening but the threads are different. I tried my Sawyer filter on this bottle. The filter won't screw on tight and the water leaks between the bottle and the filter. It defies logic that Platypus made this bottle with different size threads. There should be an obvious warning about this on the web page. This bottle is useless to me and it's not even worth it for me to send it back.

If it fits, it sits
Ordered four to freeze water in and keep the cooler cold while having cold water to drink on hot days. Haven't noticed any off tastes or odors. Will be testing with gin soon.

Twist cap won’t sit tightly and leaks
Is there a solution to get the twist cap to turn and settle flush with the opening? On first use it won’t return flush and the bottle leaks. I’ve had three people try to assist me with getting the lid on properly and we can’t figure it out.

Poor durability
We bought several of these soft bottles from a local gear store to use while backpacking. One had a manufacturing defect on the lid which meant the bottle was not watertight (the lid could not close all the way). Another popped along the bottom seam after just 4 days of use. The other two have held up alright.

Bag lids crack
I have 3 or 4 of these bags and the lids crack at the top in at least 2 of these. You can buy replacements, but kind of pricey for something that isprobably a known problem. Not great to have your water bottles all start leaking oin a trip when you need the water.
