Versatility redefined.

Starting from scratch, Pivot's engineers went into their new cyclocross endeavor fully focused on designing the ultimate bike in terms of both efficiency and versatility. The Vault's geometry, tube shapes, and intuitive features perfectly illustrate these attributes, as the new bike serves to redefine what's possible in the world of gravel and cyclocross racing. With a new fork, brake system, bottom bracket, and hassle-free internal cable routing, the Vault is a stellar example of the future of innovative cyclocross frame design.

The Pivot Vault has been designed around the BB386EVO bottom bracket. We should note that this is for good reason. The new BB386EVO bottom bracket system is a competitor-dwarfing 86.5mm wide and has a diameter of 46mm. It's been estimated that the new design increases rigidity by 30% and reduces power dispersion to almost zero. So, to accommodate the massive bottom bracket shell, you'll immediately notice that the new frame design features an oversized juncture where the down and seat tubes meet. This new-found rigidity is further accentuated by the frame's complete carbon fiber design. The Vault uses a full-carbon, tapered head tube and fork. Not only is the design a weight saver, but it adds to overall lateral stiffness while improving handling characteristics. Now, vibration is properly absorbed, chatter is eliminated, and the handling is both nimble and precise. Ultimately, these design innovations amount to the Vault being able to drop the hammer when the time is right.

Our favorite new feature of the Vault, however, is less of a feature and more of an ideology -- placing the power in your hands. That's right, Pivot has provided you with a multitude of configuration options. The Vault has the ability for both disc and cantilever configurations. This is achieved in a few simple steps. Set up for disc brakes, the frame's carbon fiber dropouts are spaced at 135mm. An interchangeable alloy hanger is available to switch to a 130mm spacing if you choose to run standard cantilever arms. So, you're probably wondering what happens to the brake posts when you're running discs? Well, Pivot made both the frame and fork posts fully-removable without altering the integrity of the frame. In fact, when the posts are removed, you can quickly install proprietary plugs that seamlessly cover the conversion.

Pivot built up the Vault with Shimano's new Ultegra 6800 11-speed drivetrain. This workhorse group provides those crisp, accurate, and speedy shifts you've come to depend on from Shimano, and it does so regardless of the adverse conditions you'll undoubtedly encounter aboard the machine. Powering the bike are FSA's Gossamer Cross 386EVO cranks (46/36t), complementing the Ultegra 11-28t cassette out back. TRP'smechanically-actuated hydraulic disc system handles all of your braking duties with ease, and Stan's ZTR Iron Cross wheels wrapped in Kenda Small Block 8 rubber keep you smoothly rolling over the roughest cross courses out there. A full-FSA cockpit perfectly complements the Vault, with Pivot's own WTB Volt Race saddle rounding out the build.

The Pivot Vault is available in sizes X-Small(5'1"-5'5"), Small(5'5"-5'9"), Medium(5'8"-5'11"), and Large(5'11"-6'3") and in the color Matte Black/green.

Sweet ride

    I've demo'd several other brands this year and found this bike to be my favorite. I really like the 386EVO bb and found it to be very effective with power transfer and stability.The shorter chain stays and steeper head tube angle made this bike really agile and responsive-very nice touches....great bike for cross racing,gravel grinding or road riding-very versatile. or 801-736-6396 x 4074 for questions or guidance.

    For the tire width Pivot's site says the following:

    "The Vault has the best tire clearance in the class. The Vault can run all standard 700C X 33C cyclocross tires on the market. However, depending on rim width and tire specification, the Vault can fit up to 38C tires. For reference, one of the largest tires we have come across for the category is the Clement X’PLOR MSO that’s called out as a 40C tire. It will clear barely clear the frame by about 1mm or less on each side so we would not recommend this tire as any rim run out or tire variation could cause rubbing."

    This is a fantastic bike. As a mechanic that has sold several, and a racer that is racing one, its the best cross bike out there.

    But it's a BH, not a Pivot.

    It's very disingenuous to describe this as Pivot "starting from scratch"

    Otherwise the bike is fantastic. Go to your LBS and buy it.

    Awesome feedback. Having owned the BH version since last fall, I agree 100%. Regarding the origins, Chris Cocalis, founder and lead engineer at Pivot, designed this frame for BH (when BH USA was partnered with Pivot). So Pivot technically designed it, but it was first launched under the BH brand. Doesn't really matter, as the outcome is flat out amazing. Enjoy yours!
