The 2016 Pivot Mach 4 Carbon X01 Complete Mountain Bike weighs in as one of the lightest full-suspension bikes Pivot has ever produced, offering lightning fast responsiveness and sure handling to track over rough terrain with unwavering accuracy. Outfitted with a SRAM X01 drivetrain, SRAM Guide RS hydraulic disc brakes, and a set of smooth spinning DT Spline hoops, this bike is right at home on technical terrain and race courses alike.
Perhaps the most striking characteristic of the Mach 4 Carbon is its low-slung top tube, which yields the best standover clearance you’ll find on a 27.5’’ wheel bike. This shaping accommodates a wide swath of rider heights and allows exceptional space for shifting positions and lean angles out on the trail without worries of banging a knee on the top tube.
The Mach 4 Carbon features a DW-Link suspension design, yielding 115mm of smooth travel while counteracting speed-robbing pedaling forces. This translates to race-worthy acceleration and consistent contact with the trail. Stand up and stomp on the pedals and you’ll be amazed at the grip you get on loose dirt. Pivot worked closely with Fox on the Float Kashima shock tune, so the Mach 4's suspension and shock combine to provide travel that’s responsive, predictable, and uses every available millimeter. As with prior iterations of the legendary Mach 4, you’ll feel like you’re riding a bike with more travel.
To keep everything tidy and quiet, the Mach 4 carbon comes with full-length internal cable routing, including internal routing for a dropper post. This frame is presented with a FOX 34 Factory CTD fork for increased confidence and versatility on rough trails. The longer fork will slacken the ride a bit, but with DW-Link suspension in back, the Mach 4 Carbon rides high in its travel so you won’t experience any front-end wandering.
With future upgrade possibilities in mind, the Pivot Mach 4 Carbon is one of the first production frames to come equipped for Shimano Di2. There’s a battery port ingeniously tucked into the frame, accessible via a securely covered hole in the downtube. With the recent release of XTR Di2 and rumors of more off-road electronic shifting options on the way, Pivot's forward thinking makes the Mach 4 Carbon an ideal choice for those of us looking for a frame that will stand the test of time and be compatible with future shifting trends.
