Redefining the versatile trail whip.

The 2016 Pivot Mach 4 Carbon X01 Complete Mountain Bike weighs in as one of the lightest full-suspension bikes Pivot has ever produced, offering lightning fast responsiveness and sure handling to track over rough terrain with unwavering accuracy. Outfitted with a SRAM X01 drivetrain, SRAM Guide RS hydraulic disc brakes, and a set of smooth spinning DT Spline hoops, this bike is right at home on technical terrain and race courses alike.

Perhaps the most striking characteristic of the Mach 4 Carbon is its low-slung top tube, which yields the best standover clearance you’ll find on a 27.5’’ wheel bike. This shaping accommodates a wide swath of rider heights and allows exceptional space for shifting positions and lean angles out on the trail without worries of banging a knee on the top tube.

The Mach 4 Carbon features a DW-Link suspension design, yielding 115mm of smooth travel while counteracting speed-robbing pedaling forces. This translates to race-worthy acceleration and consistent contact with the trail. Stand up and stomp on the pedals and you’ll be amazed at the grip you get on loose dirt. Pivot worked closely with Fox on the Float Kashima shock tune, so the Mach 4's suspension and shock combine to provide travel that’s responsive, predictable, and uses every available millimeter. As with prior iterations of the legendary Mach 4, you’ll feel like you’re riding a bike with more travel.

To keep everything tidy and quiet, the Mach 4 carbon comes with full-length internal cable routing, including internal routing for a dropper post. This frame is presented with a FOX 34 Factory CTD fork for increased confidence and versatility on rough trails. The longer fork will slacken the ride a bit, but with DW-Link suspension in back, the Mach 4 Carbon rides high in its travel so you won’t experience any front-end wandering.

With future upgrade possibilities in mind, the Pivot Mach 4 Carbon is one of the first production frames to come equipped for Shimano Di2. There’s a battery port ingeniously tucked into the frame, accessible via a securely covered hole in the downtube. With the recent release of XTR Di2 and rumors of more off-road electronic shifting options on the way, Pivot's forward thinking makes the Mach 4 Carbon an ideal choice for those of us looking for a frame that will stand the test of time and be compatible with future shifting trends.

Not too much for me.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My current bike is a Specialized that's about 15 years old, so I'm a bit new to all the fresh new mountain bikes. Needless to say, though, the Mach 5 blew me away. I'm not a consistent mountain biker (probably because my gear is so outdated), but I climbed really well on this, even though I had been a slacker on my aerobic fitness.

I was solid on the decent. I loved how smooth it ate up all the rocks and found myself intentionally hitting them, just for fun.

It would be amazing to upgrade some features, to make this lighter, like Enve wheels, etc. But, as is, this build is really sweet and will definitely get you there.

Not too much for me.

great XC Bike

I had a chance to demo this bike several times in Moab,UT at Outerbike and I really loved the ride quality. This is Pivots lightest frame ever,5.1 lbs in a medium. Even though the bike is extremely lightweight it never felt flexy on the trail making for a very stable platform to crank on. With a relatively short wheel base and a fairly slack head tube angle-68.2 with the 120mm fork i felt it opened up the bike a bit allowing for quick,flick-able turns on the trail and super fast bombing descents. In other words you are not pigeon holed into an XC bike as it is well suited for all mountain terrain too. To sum it up this bike is a very versatile, well rounded steed that's very light weight and responsive on the trail. It definitely left me with a smile on my face and I am 100% sure you will have the same reaction.

We can also custom build this bike often times with better components for around the same price. Hit me up for details.
