While Pioneer's large, glossy LCD Color SGX-CA900 Cycle-Computer is one of the best options available for tracking your metrics, Belkin team riders wanted something a little smaller for racing. Their request was answered by Pioneer's developers, who created the new SGX-CA500 Touchscreen Cycle-Computer. And while it loses the color screen and some additional memory and features, it gains WiFi communication and a smaller footprint.

Pioneer developed the computer, like its big brother, to display all of you metrics in an easy-to-read and operate system. The unit seamlessly pairs with its power meter package, giving you instant feedback at your cockpit in terms of power output, pedaling efficiency, and many other essential metrics.

The Cycle-Computer is part of Pioneer's new Pedal Monitoring System, which displays power output for each leg, independently, as well as where that power is being applied. These metrics are displayed graphically on the screen, with arrows indicating contributing torque, and other arrows indicating losses. The reason Pioneers does this is fairly straightforward — even if the total power is high, if the first set of arrows are large, some of the rider's power is being wasted. Conversely, even if the total power is low, many secondary arrows show pedaling is effective, and little power is being wasted. This gives you an exact visual representation of how effective your pedaling is, in a real-time, out-in-front format.

Pioneer included six preconfigured screens, each featuring preset screens that display a range of one to nine metrics at a time. You're able to turn individual screens on and off, as well as being able to customize the screens to your liking. And, like a smartphone, simply swipe left or right to move to the next screen, and tap the box for any metric to make it expand. This operation sequence makes it simple to navigate while on the road, which also bypasses the multiple menu screens that so many computers are plagued with.

After the ride you're able to upload your log data to Pioneer's cloud-based Cyclo-Sphere website using the built-in WiFi feature, which is an online training center that lets you analyze left and right side pedaling efficiency, power, and force vectors, among other types of data displayed in easy-to-understand graphs and numerical displays.

The Pioneer Color Touchscreen Cycle-Computer is ANT+ compatible, has a built-in GPS receiver, and it comes with a handlebar bracket, Micro USB cable, safety strap, and user manual. The unit has a claimed weight of 75 grams, excluding the bracket, and it comes with a 2-year warranty.
