The Pinarello Dogma Carbon Road Frameset welcomes you to the world of asymmetrical design. Traditionally built frames inherently flex more on one side than the other due to torque you apply during the pedal stroke. Pinarello designed the Dogma after carefully calculating variances in how much the frame distorts on the left side vs. right (as well as in other key areas); then Pinarello built each section (or counter section) of the frame to compensate for these variances. The Dogma’s design is completely unique thanks to those subtle differences in frame composition; for example, the right side of the top tube is rounded, while the left half is squared off. The chain stays, seat stays, and fork blades also have similar subtle dimension differences. The Dogma also features 60HM1K-grade carbon built to withstand 60 tons per square centimeter, thus reducing your chances of downgrading the frame to wind chimes after touching wheels on the final corner of a crit race.
- Stronger carbon means less material needed to sculpt the Dogma, which resulted in a 40-gram weight savings when compared to the Prince Carbon
- The Dogma is 23% more impact-resistant than the Prince Carbon—handy if you happen to kiss the pavement
- Pinarello used Japanese carbon manufacturer Toryaca’s Nanoalloy technology which embeds alloy nano-particles directly into the carbon for superior strength and impact absorption
- Pinarello used polystyrene (same stuff your helmet is made from) for the frame molding process; this allows for a more-consistent wall thickness, which results in less structural weakening happening over time
