Drop that dude the last three miles, it will serve him right.

When the hammerhead in your group pushes to tack on an extra ten-mile loop to your ride, you’re glad you have the long-ride comfort of the 3D Elite chamois in the Pearl Izumi Men's Elite Cut Short. Targeted padding in high-pressure zones keeps you comfortable mile after mile, while the chamois’ intelligent construction cuts the weight for maximum ventilation. Active carbon yarns in the chamois topper help reduce bacteria buildup. The short’s Active Ultrasensor fabric wicks like crazy to keep you cool when the blacktop heats up and also provides 50-rated sun protection. Count on the multi-panel anatomical design for a compression fit and a comfortable ride, while silicon leg grippers keeps the hems in place.

Not wild about 'em

They generally do what they're supposed to do, but I think something is amiss with the chamois. After long mileage, I've had the center panel wad up and cause some serious discomfort. I've only had this happen once, but once may be enough. Perhaps this is just an issue with a short run of these.
The funny thing is, I have a pair of these from a year earlier, and they're fantastic. Chamois stays flat, and no hotspots.

Nice shorts

Bought these shorts from Realcyclist and they were a good buy. They have a nice chamois and fit like other Pearl Izumi shorts I have. Seems the chamois is the same as the quest shorts, but these have a lighter, more breathable fabric.

Comfortable form fitting bike shorts

I love these bike shorts. They are really comfortable and I wear them in my spin class and can't wait to use them this spring on the road. They hold my package nice and fit well and keep me dry when I sweat.

Have owned a variety of other Pearls and found that these elites fit poorly - actually it was more of an odd fit as well. I had a sense the quality wasn't as high as other pearls I've had. I'm using them but not loving them.

Not a fan, do not like leg gripper

These shorts just did not fit me very well. They might have been a bit too small but I don't think that was the real issue. Just a weird shape.

Also, I see other users praise the leg grippers but I thought they were terrible. The silicon leg grippers are basically little pieces of rubber which they put all around the inside of the ending part of the short to provide additional grip. These work great for not slipping. They are also great at pulling my hair with each movement I make. I suppose i could shave my thighs to allow these shorts to fit more comfortable. That's probably what real cyclist's do anyway. I prefer to just return them and buy shorts that don't pull my leg hair.

Very Nice!

These shorts fit me well. And by that I mean they accentuate my chicken legs nicely. They have enough padding to provide comfort during longer rides without creating that waddling diaper feel when walking.

Great Shorts

I was about to drop a ton of money on a new saddle before I bought these shorts, now I'm putting that purchase off. These stay in place at every point, but aren't so tight that they are uncomfortable. They are great to throw under any outer short if you want pockets, which i usually do, but are also great on their own if you don't mind showing off a little more of yourself.

This short rocks. The improved leg gripper is the best comfort on the leg that I've felt and the chamois is amazing. I highly recommend this short to any one - especially for long rides in the saddle.

Is this short basically the same as their older Slice Ultrasensor?

Responded on

Pretty much...slight modification to the chamois to help keep you even drier and the grippers have changed a bit as well. If you loved the Ultrasensor shorts - you'll love the Elite

I tried these on at my LBS. The Slice was my primary short so I wanted to see how it's replacement faired. I have to say the fit is true to the slice. I noticed slight difference in the cut at the top of the short where the belly seems about 1/4 inch lower that my Slices and the back seemed about 1/4 inch taller. Overall I believe this is an improvement for an in the sadle fit. Chamois seemed the same and new gripper was nice.
