Select Tights - Men's

Pearl Izumi's Select Tights are the ideal weight for those late-fall or early-spring days where the weather is chilly but not frightful. This is because they use Pearl's Select Transfer fabric instead of the heavier Select Thermal. Select Thermal's focus is on insulation while Select Transfer eschews insulation in favor of light, supportive compression. Both fabrics excel at moisture transfer, so you'll stay dry in the Select Tights, but you won't overheat 10minutes into your workout.

If you're on a run, then their lack of a chamois means you won't have to deal with all the inconveniences of bipedal movement with a diaper butt. (The internal briefs do provide some support, though.) If you're going for a ride, the ability to wear cycling shorts underneath the Select Tights provides two benefits.

First, the shorts are an extra layer around your thighs and core that helps to preserve warmth and protect your engine from the wind-chill you generate on the bike. Second, you get to choose your own chamois, so you can forgo the abrasive terrycloth wash rag that many manufacturers seem to mistake for a winter chamois. Either way, you'll be sitting pretty or operating smoothly.

The waist is elasticized and the legs are finished off with an eight-inch zipper to facilitate getting the tights on and make sure they fit when they're there. An internal key pocket gives you a place to stash personal effects when your jacket prohibits pocket-access, and reflective elements help keep you visible in low-light conditions.
