The shape of your hand while holding onto bars is round. If you take a look at Pearl Izumi's Select Gel Gloves, you'll notice that the palms are articulated. Why? Pearl Izumi designed it with a natural arch in order to greet the shape of your hand.
This ensures that there's no irritating or control-compromising fabric overlap between the grip and the palm. It also provides a consistent platform for Pearl's designers to place its Comfort Bridge Gel-Foam padding. A few millimeters off and padding can be worthless -- even detracting from its intended purpose.
Aware of this, Pearl's Comfort Bridge Gel Padding is deliberately located in order to relieve pressure to the ulnar and median nerves. This support prevents numbness and fatigue on longer rides. And, because the padding's precise placement, Pearl was able to make it with a lower profile. Instead of massive, gelatinous pads, Pearl's gel dissipates terrain and bicycle feedback while efficiently transferring rider input.
To complement the padding, and to enhance grip, Pearl used a durable and tactile synthetic leather palm on the Select. Along the back of the hand, Pearl Izumi's stretchy polyamide, polyester, and spandex blend ensures breathability and unrestricted movement. There's also the traditional perspiration-absorbing thumb wipe to keep things tidy.
To avoid pinching, while also enabling a simple entry and exit, the gloves hook-and-loop closure is located under the wrist.
The Pearl Izumi Select Gel Gloves are available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black/black, Screaming Yellow/black, True Blue/black, True Red/black, and White/black.
