P.R.O. Barrier WxB Shoe Cover

The way we see it, cyclists have two options in the cold, wet weather of late fall and early spring: stay in and have a drink or get out on the bike in the Pearl Izumi PRO Barrier WxB Shoe Covers. One option will help come spring. The other won't. To anyone who wants to be competitive in April, the choice is pretty clear.

The shoe covers' wind- and waterproof exterior and fleece lining are the bootie version of a light winter jacket. For heavier protection, we recommend the PRO Softshell version; however, we find that a pair of insulating socks take the PRO Barrier WxB covers well below Pearl Izumi's recommended low temperature of 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Runs small, great q, XXL on size 48/13

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
XXL
Height:
6' 1"
Weight:
275

XXL on size EU48 /US13 shoes is a tough fit, but doable. Easier after watching the video and seeing the cross-reach technique. Seem like very high quality so far. I don't foresee ripping them if careful putting them on. Being on a hurry would run the risk of snagging/ripping. Some reflective elements, but I would welcome more for night riding. I have many other PI products including shoe covers for mtb. The mtb shoe covers are roomier. With a little care putting on and taking off, PI products last a long time.

XXL is WAY Too small for a size 12 Shoe

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
XXL
Weight:
185

I bought these and they shipped fast along with my other item(s). I should have read the reviews first, they sound similar to this one, these are way too small! If you can get them to fit over a size 12 show they will rip almost immediately from being stretched so tight. I can't say if they keep your feet warm since I could not get them to fit over my shoes. I paid $55 for these because IMO Pearl Izumi is worth every penny. After I received them I went to write this review, clicked on the item and they are now $41. That's an insult. Luckily the return process is easy but I am out $7 for shipping because an XXL shoe cover is in no way able to cover a size 12 shoe.

Warm / XXL Fits Small/ Sole Tear

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I wear a size 13 US shoe. I also use double-sided SPD pedals on my bike. I got the XXL size shoe covers which are supposed to be for shoe sizes 13+. While the covers are stretchy, I really have to pull hard to get them around the back of my Fizik M6 shoes and the back of my legs. For an XXL these seem small. Someone who wears a bigger shoe than I do will have a hard time getting them on. I did a 40-mile solo ride with these. I have to say they are warmer than expected. The ride temperatures in the morning were about 35 degrees. I wore the covers and a thicker pair of socks. My toes got a little cold about 40 minutes in but the temps warmed up so there weren't any issues. Apparently, with the double-sides SPD style pedals, there is a chance they can catch and tear. See the attached photo. Hopefully, this tear doesn't cause any issues and fail before I get some good use out of the shoe covers.
