Redesigned for the 2014/15 winter riding season, the Pearl Izumi Women's P.R.O. Softshell 180 Jacket remains at the front of the pack in terms of materials, fit, and style.
Pearl uses a dual layer of its proven P.R.O. Softshell across the entire front half of the jacket (hence the "180" designation), an impermeable but breathable materials that protects you from the wind and rain without creating that stuffy, sweaty feeling that some jackets can. Beneath the Softshell material is a layer of P.R.O. Thermal fabric, a soft layer of insulation that keeps you warm but aids in moisture transfer and is antimicrobial, too, preventing the jacket's interior from accumulating body odor over time.
Knowing that style is half the battle, Pearl paneled the jacket into a fit that is both flattering and functional. It's slim, to minimizing bulk and bunching while on the bike, and it tails slightly down the rear to lend some protection from rear wheel spray. Just above, there's a zippered rear pocket with two internal dividers, which is joined by a zippered chest pocket to boost the jacket's practicality. Finally, because so many wintertime rides start or end with the sun down, there are reflective elements all around the jacket's exterior to increase your visibility to motorists.
The Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Softshell 180 Jacket comes in five sizes, from X-Small to X-Large, and in two colors: Black and Crimson.
