P.R.O. In-R-Cool Men's Shorts

We all love riding in the summer -- the sun, the breeze, and the beautiful views. However, the tradeoff is that it's unbearably hot. Luckily, though, this is where the Pearl Izumi P.R.O. In-R-Cool Shorts come into their own. Utilizing heat-reflective materials to keep you cool, and Pearl's P.R.O. chamois, these are built to go the distance -- especially when the mercury continues to climb.

As the name implies, Pearl built the P.R.O. In-R-Cool shorts from its In-R-Cool fabric. In case you're wondering, it's a proprietary blend of nylon, Minerale, and elastane. The Minerale fabric additive aids in breathability in order to speed moisture transfer from your skin to the exterior of the fabric. In addition to providing a controlled stretch, the In-R-Cool fabric employs the venerable Coldblack technology. As we all know, the color black tends to absorb the sun's rays, which can make black clothing awfully hot on a sunny day. But with Coldblack, reflective materials have been added in order to stop the P.R.O. shorts from absorbing heat. Another upshot is that they have a UPF 50+ rating, which means that they'll block out harmful UV rays.

The P.R.O. In-R-Cool shorts feature Pearl's Form Fit. This means that they have a next-to-skin fit that's been bolstered by an anatomic cut. Accordingly, this ensures that the shorts will move with you, instead of bunching or chafing. The silicone grippers keep the legs from riding up, and the nine-inch hem (size Medium_ ensures adequate coverage. There are even reflective accents to increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.

But the true test of shorts is the chamois, and these shorts employ Pearl's P.R.O. Seamless 4D insert. As Pearl's top-tier racing and training chamois, it uses anatomically shaped foam and a four-way stretch cover in order to fight chafing with every pedal stroke. Additionally, it's designed specifically to channel your body's weight away from your sensitive tissues, moving it more towards your sit bones. After all, your sit bones are aptly named, as they're far more adept at supporting your body's weight than the adjacent sensitive areas. This equates to more comfort for you, especially on long rides.
