P.R.O. In-R-Cool Men's Shorts

Pearl Izumi's P.R.O. In-R-Cool Shorts are designed to make warm weather riding more enjoyable. In fact, the durability and heat reflecting features of these shorts will earn it frequent appearances in your weekly rotation.

The shorts have been constructed from Pearl Izumi's P.R.O. Transfer In-R-Cool, a fabric that wears three hats during warm weather rides. By this, we mean that it reflects heat, transfers moisture away from your body, and is exceptionally breathable.

To beat the heat, Izumi treated the bulk of the fabric with an application called Coldblack. Essentially, Coldblack technology allows Black fabric to reflect the sun's radiant energy as if it were a light colored fabric. The differences between fabrics with Coldblack and those without Coldblack are staggering. Those with Coldblack reflect up to 80% of the sun's radiant energy, while those without it absorb up to 90%. Incidentally, it also blocks UV rays at a minimum of 30 UPF. And, though, a common skepticism of fabric technologies is that they'll lose their abilities through time and repeated washing, not so say the creators of Coldblack. In fact, they insist that it can't be washed out, and that it actually extends the life of the fabric by about 20%.

To keep you dry and to control odor, P.R.O. Transfer Dry is utilized. P.R.O. Transfer Dry is constructed from Minerale yarn, which is derived from naturally occurring minerals. Similar to the way a water filter uses carbon to extract impurities from water, the combination of the minerals in Minerale yarn trap odors in microscopic pores and releases them after a simple wash and dry. The material also happens to dry very quickly, aiding in its breathability on hot days.

The anatomic cut and wide elastic leg bands, that have been coupled with silicone grippers, hold the shorts in place firmly and comfortably. Accordingly, this created a platform worthy of Pearl Izumi's best chamois -- the P.R.O. Seamless 4D Chamois. Pearl Izumi used digital pressure map modeling to dial in the perfect amount of density and tapering for the three types of foam. As a result, this pre-shaped chamois is 35% lighter than past versions while providing enhanced blood-flow, vibration dampening, and comfort. The chamois, itself, also has integrated carbon yarns in order to control odor and to provide increased heat regulation.

Reflective elements have also been added in order to increase your visiblity to motorists in low-light conditions.

The Pearl Izumi P.R.O. In-R-Cool Shorts are available in five sizes from Small though XX-Large and in the colors Black, Black/white, Black/true red, and Black/screaming yellow.
