Instant relief from cool weather.

A good wind-breaking vest should be extremely packable while still offering effective protection against the wind. The Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Barrier Lite Vest succeeds on both counts; it manages to keep the wind and rain off you, yet is so unobtrusive when tucked away in your back pocket, you won't think twice about stuffing in there alongside your pump and gel packs.

The Pearl Izumi Barrier fabric is a lightweight, breathable material perfectly suited for the sort of weather changes we often face during a volatile spring afternoon on the road. Made from tightly-woven monofilament materials, the Barrier fabric gives you protection from the elements while allowing your body to breathe and avoid moisture overload. Its versatility is one reason it can be used either as a wind breaker on high-speed descents, a rain protector during flash storms in the summer, or even an extra layer to take along for winter rides, just in case.

The vest has been ergonomically designed to allow a layer underneath it, yet at the same it's time cut close enough to the body that you won't have excess fabric flapping in the wind or feel like you are parachuting rather than descending down a mountain. Elasticized hem and arm holes give you that snug, secure feeling, and the arm -holes are not oversized so as not to catch wind, either. Reflective elements have been added for post-dusk rides.

The Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Barrier Lite Vest comes in Small through XX-Large. It is available in Black/White, White/Black and True Red.

Noisy above 20 mph

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I bought this vest because another one I had was too noisy when you got above say 15 mph. I saw this vest has some elastic at the arm holes so I was hoping it would not flap in the wind. Well instead this one gets loud at a higher speed, I would say around 20 mph. When it does it is loud. If I move my arm position around some sometimes I can get it to quit but then that is distracting to have to adjust. On the other hand I like the more form fitting in the chest. I am 44 in the chest. It works as a windshell. If it only didn't flap I would give it 5 stars. Is there a packable windshield vest that does not flap? I have a Castelli vest that is flaps around at 15 mph.

Solid vest

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I purchased the yellow and man it's bright but high visibility in low light situations was the point. I'm usually a medium but the large fit better over a long and short sleeve shirt. It's super light and repels light rain and mist well.

Great product.

Worth using for early morning ride in Souther California. Light and easily tucked in the back pocket of my jersey. I highly recommend this product.

Nice wind breaker

super light weight - would be a decent wind breaker, but no insulation (if that is what you need). I returned it because it was too big (baggy), 6'2" and 230, XXL not right for me. The yellow is bright

Light , easy to weir , perfect fit

    Good wind breaker.
