Top-tier insulation and resilience.

Zip the Pearl Izumi Men’s Elite Thermal Barrier Jacket over your jersey when conditions chill out. Pearl Izumi gave the jacket a smart two-layer design with a thermal fleece interior and a barrier outer shell—which means you can enjoy protection, insulation, and breathability all at the same time. An internal draft flap keeps the cold off your chest, and dual zip pockets give you a quick and easy spot to stash small items close at hand.

Great Winter Cycling Jacket

I'm 6'2'' 200lbs. 34" waist and a Large fits perfectly. It's form fitting but not next to skin tight. The neck is perfect length and allows the right amount of room to tuck a balaclava. Sleeves are nice and long for the extended riding position, but not so much that they look bunched up when standing upright. The jacket has great construction, no hanging threads, and the seams are stitched very well. It is not bulky in the least - very lightweight and thin. It is flexible and non constricting - has very nice "give". The jacket is VERY warm. I wore it on a 43F degree night with only a sleeveless workout shirt underneath and ended up sweating pretty good. I'd say it's best for 30F temps and below. Rear pockets are ample size for anything you'd want to carry back there and the zippers are easy to open while riding with medium weight gloves. The front of the jacket is water resistant, not water proof. The rear is made of breathable fabric and is maybe only semi-water resistant. On wet roads after a rain my back got wet from water kicked up by my rear tire (no fender). The jacket is not made for rain riding. Wind resistance has been very good. On windy days at speeds over 20mph I felt no wind break the shell. I have the chili pepper/black version and it looks very good. I've gotten a few compliments on it.

Get a rain shell to wear over this and I'd say you'd be set to ride in anything mother nature can dish out. I'm extremely pleased with the jacket.

As always, realcyclist.com is impeccable in every aspect for an online retailer. Thanks guys!

Thermal barrier - yes indeed

Bought this jacket for autumn and winter training in Connecticut. So far I've been wearing it in both cold and rainy weather - without complaint. This jacket is lightweight, wind and partly water resistant on the front (I guess you could feel some water go through if it's pouring down!). It fits very well - not too tight as it is a winter jacket, not too lose either so it catches the wind. It'll keep you warm even below freezing if you wear a long sleeved under Armour and or a cycling jersey. Back pockets are easy to access, open and close. I have no regrets what so ever about this jacket - only smiles. Buy this jacket if you need something to keep you warm while you're out there enjoying the winter roads.

Its Warm!!!

This is the jacket for cold weather riding!!!!! Its super light and super warm. Went out for a ride in 25 F weather and it felt like it was 65 outside. Fits perfect and is light. The only problem with it is that I have a mob of ladies chasing after me because this jacket makes you look super HOT as well.

Is this jacket suitable for riding around freezing temperatures?

Responded on

Yes. I use this jacket with a Merino base layer at temperatures down to -10C.

If you have the room to wear a base and a thermal layer under it, it is good for rides of 1-2 hours at -25C.
