Description

Pocket-sized protection

Have you ever wished you had stashed newspaper in your jersey pockets to line your jersey for that chilly descent? Pearl Izumi's Elite Aero Jacket blocks wind, but packs up into a pocket sized package.

Pearl Izumi's Softshell Lite fabric features four-way stretch while keeping you protected from wind and water. Unlike traditional wind jackets that have you feeling like you are wearing a garbage bag, the Elite Aero's form fit, including an extended rear hem and shaped sleeves, contours to your body when you are in riding position. The high collar tapers from front to back so that it doesn't chafe your chin while riding.

While the Elite Aero blocks cold wind, if you overheat while climbing and sweat, you'll be soggy and miserable for the descent. To aide in keeping you dry and warm, Direct-Vent mesh panels allow moisture to evaporate. The jacket is not waterproof, but will keep you dry in a light mist.

The full-length front zipper's internal draft flap, as well as a zipper garage, help to seal in warmth. The jacket features reflective strips for 360 degrees of visibility.

The Pearl Izumi Elite Aero Jacket is available in sizes Small to X-Large and in the colors: Electric blue, White, and Black.

Here's what others have to say...

Great light jacket!

This fits great and is nice for those cool/windy days or if there's a slight mist out. It's lightweight, so it's not for cold weather but rather nice for those in between days when it's not cold but not warm enough for just a jersey. It can easily be rolled up and placed in a jersey pocket if the temp heats up. Nice purchase!!

Excellent quality and fit...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased the Pearl iZumi Elite Aero Jacket in white, size XL. My training rides on my road bike follow close to the Lake Michigan coast and there's often wind. My Pearl iZumi barrier jacket does a great job of breaking the wind on cool mornings but it is loose enough to flap a bit. This aero jacket is just the ticket---it fits more snugly and there is virtually no flap. It is very streamline.

It offers only moderate protection from wind and light rain but that's all I need. I really appreciate it's light weight and breathability. Since it is an aero jacket, it has no pockets.

The arms seem extra long so there is no gap between the cuffs and my gloves (I'm 6'2" with long arms and greatly appreciate the arm length of this jacket).

I highly recommend it.

Great mild weather jersey!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This jersey is very light and can easily be worn in Spring and Summer, especially if you want to keep the UV off your arms. The quality is very good. The fit is like every other Pearl Izumi jersey. I am very happy with my purchase.

AWESOME.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great jacket for mild weather when a jersey might not be enough and you want more protection than just arm warmers.

Packs into a jersey pocket easily. Great cut and not too short in the front like a lot of riding gear. Long arms which work well on the bike.

Blue color was on sale for $38. How could I NOT buy it.

what is the difference between the PRO...

what is the difference between the PRO aero and Elite aero jackets?

Responded on

Dusp,

There are a few subtle differences with these two jackets. See below:

Elite Aero (PLZ1381):
-Semi form fit
-Reflective material is slightly lower on the back

P.R.O. Aero (PLZ0743):
-Form fit
-Longer fuller length draft flap (this garment is slightly longer than the Elite Aero)
-Don't pay attention to the "front view" photos as those were taken while a person was wearing the garment and the tails are not showing due to Photoshop.

Over all the differences are not that major, mainly patterning of the garments as the material selection is very similar.

i thought the PRO was a wet weather jacket while the Elite was just cold weather with minor water resistance.
what i'd like to know is if either one is thermal...?

Responded on

I just bought the Elite Aero Jacket, and it does not have any thermal material. It's very thin, packable, wind-resitant material only.
