Putting the love into glove.

With changing seasons comes a changing cycling wardrobe, and whether you're moving from summer gloves to fall gloves or winter gloves to spring gloves, chances are that the perennially popular Pearl Izumi Cyclone Gel Gloves are part of the process. With its combination of function, aesthetics, and economic pricing, few other gloves enjoy such singular devotion from their cycling partners.

The Cyclone Gel Gloves' active ingredient is PI Softshell technology, which insulates, blocks wind, and resists water so you can ride comfortably in all cold-weather conditions. They don't have as much insulation as the P.R.O. and Elite Softshell gloves, so they're more breathable and less bulky, striking an ideal balance between protection and dexterity. This accounts for them being Pearl's best-selling gloves, a title they're sure to retain with a few newly added features for 2014.

Pearl Izumi's new 1:1 design philosophy, when applied to the Cyclones, resulted in a re-orientation of the gel padding in the palm to remove stress on the Ulnar and Median nerves and eliminate restrictive feelings between the thumb and forefinger. This makes for longer ride comfort and easier shifting, braking, and opening candy bars. Other features are marking another return this year, including the touchscreen-friendly forefinger and thumb tips, the durable synthetic palm, and reflective highlights to help keep you visible in low-light conditions. There's also a felt wiping panel on the thumb — a pre-req for any serious cold-weather glove.

The Pearl Izumi Cyclone Gel Gloves are available in six sizes ranging from X-Small to XX-Large in the colors Black, Screaming Yellow, and White.

These gloves do the trick! I use them comfortably between 45-60 degrees. Anything below the 45 mark, I'd use something a little more insulated.

Great cool weather gloves

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Finally got a chance to use those gloves (screaming yellow) in the high 30's and low 40's weather for over 2 hours ride. They keep my hands toasty. In fact, my hands sweat a little at the end of the ride. Great gloves at a reasonable price. (Just wish Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bib Shorts is at a reasonable price too...)

I just upgraded to these cyclone gloves recently and I am quite happy with them so far. I replaced an older version of the cyclone gloves, which I also enjoyed. Two improvements of note for me with the new pair are the wider wrist velcro straps and the big bonus of the touch screen sensitive finger and thumb. The wider velcro wrist straps are easier to get on and off and provide a secure attachment over my older pair and the touch screen sensitive finger and thumb work great with my iPhone. As with my older cyclone gloves the gel placement is excellent in the palm. For safety/visibility reasons I went with the neon yellow. I used these gloves in a temperature range of 40 - mid 50 degrees F.

Excellent

Great pair of full fingered gloves. They keep my hands warm (worn in low 30-mid 40's F) but not so hot where they become sweaty inside the gloves. They are very comfortable.
