Description

Dry and fast.

Whether you are looking to stay super aero for your Saturday time trial or you just want to protect your feet from the wind and your shoes from rain and road gunk, the Pearl Izumi Barrier Lite Shoe Covers will be your go-to over shoe on all but the coldest or hottest days.

Made from the P.R.O. Barrier Lite fabric, Barrier Lite Shoe Covers have a snug design that gives your feet the wind protection they often need when you're descending a mountain pass, even in the summertime. And if you encounter an unexpected flash rain storm, you won't have to worry about your $400 Sidis getting soaked since the Barrier Lite fabric provides protection against the rain.

Pearl Izumi has taken the trouble to test these babies in the wind tunnel and has found that they do have a beneficial effect on drag. Slick and slick-looking, they are easy to pull on and off with a simple hook and loop ankle tab. KEVLAR has been added to the bottom to keep them durable and rip-resistant, even if you find yourself walking around in them at the coffee shop or in the parking lot.

The Pearl Izumi Barrier Lite Shoe Covers come in Black and White. They are available in Small through XX-Large.

Good shoe covers for spring/fall weather

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Good wind protection in the cool weather and give some aerodynamic feel. It's a bit hard to put on, wished they had zippers but that bring the the price up, so I just leave them on the shoes and pull down enough to buckle up the shoes

Fantastic aero covers for 55-75* weather

Pearl Izumi's PRO and Elite gear is always fantastic -including these shoe covers. The material here is thin and stretchy. These are meant to fit very snug.

Application: For keeping your feet aero and dry while riding in 55-75* weather.

The material here is very thin (on purpose). If you are riding in colder weather (40-60*) or in significant rain I highly recommend Pearl Izumi's warmer and waterproof "PRO Barrier WxB" shoe covers.

FIT: Follow the size chart. I wear a 45 euro in Sidi and Shimano. The XL is the correct size.

Not for Reallly Cold Rides

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I received these tonight via UPS from competitivecyclist.com today and decided to use them right away. It was 25 degrees with a 20mph wind (making it feel like 11 degrees). It never gets that cold in Tennessee (so I did not buy this for that weather). By 5 miles in, my toes were freezing.

I am a 43 shoe and bought the large, and while VERY tight, I did get them on over a pair of wool socks and cycling shoes. After 16 miles I had to return home (again, it was pretty cold outside) and my toes hurt pretty bad. I may reserve these for a bit warmer and/or wetter weather.

3 stars for now until it gets warmer to ride and try them again.

Pleasantly Surprised

I was a bit apprehensive after reading reviews for other brands like Castelli, etc stating that that they do not work well or show tear after second or third use. But I gave it a short and am glad I did.
It's surprising how easily this slips on and off, and I am not as worried about it tearing as the quality seems to be what I had hoped for.
I have not ridden it in the rain, but on some damp roads and on chilly days these covers have protected my white shoes from road grits and shielded my toes from the wind. I don't plan on riding in the rain, but if I ever get caught in a storm wearing these I would probably expect some moisture in my shoes, but for 99% of why I bought them, I think they are working rather well.

Sizing is tricky ~

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got these using a Pro-deal I have with Pearl Izumi. Love them. Keep my feet warm, shoes clean, & look good. My shoes are a 43 & I got a Large.

Get your hands on these pair!

These are a little snug to get on over your shoes. That's the only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me. Temperature was in the upper 30's this week, and after a 45 minute ride, my feet were toasty-warm.
Great for the price! I wear a size 10.5 (45) and picked up the XL.
