Description

Cold weather comfort

You could probably pedal across the Arctic in the Pearl Izumi Women's AmFIB Tight, not that you would really want to, but Pearl Izumi's waterproof, windproof, and insulated AmFibCycling Tight would keep you toasty. Due to the stretchy proprietary fabric and design, the AmFIB Cycling Tight vents like a champ while blocking wind.

Pearl Izumi's AmFib Cycling Tight is made from a blend of Pearl's Elite Softshell and Elite Thermal Fleece fabrics. These fabrics were selected in order to ensure a hand-in-hand system of consistent warming insulation, effective moisture transfer, and protection from wind and water. The Thermal Fleece fabric picks up the slack in regards to thermo-regulation and wicking, whereas the Softshell material has been interspersed in key exposure areas to eliminate element intrusion. The two fabrics coordinate effectively, so much so that Pearl Izumi gives the AmFib tight a thumbs up for weather conditions as low as 15 degrees.

To ensure that you're positioned comfortably on the saddle, Pearl Izumi included its Elite 3D Chamois. Constructed from a breathable four-way stretch fabric, the Elite 3D has been pre-shaped for total anatomic conformity. Pearl Izumi used a targeted approach to pressure relief in the Elite 3D. The strategy utilizes three layers of variable density foam; meaning that the pad is thick where your body needs it and thin where it doesn't. Active carbon yarns have also been added to increase thermo-regulation. All of this work results in the simplicity of what you really need from a chamois—dry, abrasion-free comfort.

The Pearl Izumi AmFib Cycling Tight is available in six sizes from X-Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black and Black/white.

Not waterproof

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I just had the unfortunate experience of taking a ride in wet slushy snow and found out that my amfib tights are not waterproof. It wasn't raining, just a wet snow. Completely soaked. Think I'll have to opt for a rain pant.
They are very warm winter tights, though. Just don't think they'll keep you dry when the weather turns interesting.
