Feel nice, won't last

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Bottom Line: They feel nice, but will not last long, both top and sole breaking down after 3 months of medium wear.

The fit of the shoe is nice. and I feel good as I'm running them or wearing them around town.
1) The laces. They will not stay tied. Not sure why patagonia picked these laces. They may be tougher, but they won't stay tied unless you double knot.
2) The shoe has these support designs taped onto them, as you can see. They are those reflective gray lines that run along both sides of the shoe. On the inside of the shoe, they create tension, so about 3 months in using them every other day for gym and trail running, they started ripping at the the mesh. still operable.
3) I went trail running yesterday and i guess there were some sharp rocks or something, since a rock tore out a section of the tread all the way to the soft midsole.

They're kinda noisy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

These shoes are decidedly meant for trail running. On my first foray, I took them on a road run around my neighborhood in Sugar House. Immediately, I noticed a lack of cushioning, and the fact that they are neutral was evident under my high arches. I kept running for around 3 miles total, however, and came away unsullied. Although the Tsali 3.0 are meant for trails, they worked adequately well for road running, but I don’t think I would attempt a marathon on city streets.

On the trail, the Tsali 3.0 felt more at home. I always like my trail shoes to have less cushioning for good ground-feel, but not so little that every pebble feels like a nail is being driven into my metatarsals. These shoes have a nice balance. Traction is adequate in the dirt, even when going up and down steep pitches, and I like the way they corner like agile puma paws. But while the soles are pretty much just there, doing the job, the thing I’m over the moon for are the uppers. They are flexible, breathable, and the fact that they are welded (meaning no stitching) means that I never got any hot spots or chafing on my feet, even during long runs. The lacing system also works to the upper’s advantage for a super comfortable fit.

Sizing is inconsistent though. The size 8 feels too small, but the size 8.5 feels too big. Also, they're slap-happy. They make an obnoxious slapping noise on a level that I’ve never encountered with other running shoes. It might be the neutral position they are built with, and I need to get more on my toes, but the result has seen me increase my music to an unhealthy level to drown out the sound (I want to apologize to anyone I pass on the trail for scaring you with my psycho stomping.)

Solid all around shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I'm really happy with these Tsali 3.0s. They work great for trail running, light hiking, urban trekking, really anything. Very supportive shoe although it has a high drop, for those who aren't too used to that. I've enjoyed them and all my patagonia stuff

Like Butter

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

The Patagonia Tsali 3.0 is a classic trail shoe. Unpretentious. Ready for hard running on rough terrain, but also as comfy and easy to wear as your favorite pair of sandals. I have other shoes that are lighter or more luggy, and which look more like technical trail shoes, but the Tsali feels good and grips well. And if your feet feel good... that is hard to argue with.

Will you be getting in other colors?

Great comfortable shoes

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These shoes are very comfortable. There is mesh all around the toes that keep your foot from getting overheated, but they are NOT waterproof. Water from small splashes will fall off, but if you get too much water on them, your foot will get wet. For me, this is not a big deal because the shoes are very nice and good looking and I don't splash around in puddles when I walk.
