A Worthy Investment!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Using this tool is what characterizes a professional tool. Its size and weight feels good in the hands and makes easy removal or installation of bottom brackets without risk of damage to the BB. It's clearly superior to the conventional hand-held hacks (wrenches) that are more commonly utilized. While the Park BBT-9 remains an acceptable wrench, this BBT-22 is a shop quality tool that's a worthy investment if you work on BB's with any regularity.

Eliminate most strippage

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are great in most cases, and will take off most bottom brackets with ease. I know someone well who has stripped a bottom bracket with this, but that one required machining for removal, so I'd say any ordinary bottom bracket can be removed. Great for adjusting spacing, screwing around with different crank lengths and chainring combos, and making new friends.

Top Quality

This is as good as professional automotive speciality tools. Combine this with a torque wrench and your Shimano or GXP bottom brackets will be happy.

End Creaky Bottom Brackets For Good

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you?re the type of person to hate any creaks coming from the bottom bracket area of your bike or don?t mind repacking a bearing to make it last a bit long, the BBT-19 from Park Tool is something you need in your toolbox. This tool works with most external bottom brackets to either remove or install them. Any standard 3/8? ratchet or torque wrench will do so you can get everything rolling quietly and smoothly for years to come.

Best for outboard bottom brackets

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Best investment if your steed is still sporting a standard outboard bottom bracket. If you use a cheap open ended c-clamp bottom bracket tool - your doomed. Outboard bottom brackets are made of such soft aluminum (and whatever else) that they will literally strip and sometimes even crush. Make life easier, and get one of these - absolutely secure and tight fit. Make removing those troubling factory over-tightened bottom brackets a snap. So, if your your ride still has the older style bottom bracket ( ie:not BB30 / 86/ and so on)
this is a great addition - your friends will want to use it :)

The right tool for the job

It's nice to be able to maintain your own gear. This BBT-19 will be very helpful if your bottom bracket is making quite a racket.
