Description

A small but highly functional pack built to help quench bike riders, hikers, and trail runners.

A few quick laps on the closest bike loop will restore your overworked brain during your lunch break, and the Osprey Women's Verve 4 Hydration Pack ensures that you don't dry out like a raisin before your 2:00 p.m. conference call. The Verve's two-liter hydration bladder stores plenty of water for short to medium rides, and the bite valve fastens to the magnetized sternum strap while you let two wheels, gravity, and single track suppress all unnecessary thought.

  • The padded mesh back panel and shoulder straps allow great ventilation while the pack rests comfortably on your back
  • The small 250 cubic inch compartment holds a snack, a spare tube, and a multi tool for repairs
  • Removable waist belt secures the pack while you bike, hike, or run through the wilderness
  • Bungee lacing secures a rain shell for day hikes in fickle summer weather
  • LidLock system keeps your vented helmet on lockdown once you return to the office
  • A front loop provides a perfect attachment point for a blinker light when you ride home from work in the dark
  • Reflective graphics are visible to drivers while you commute
  • A stretch mesh pocket on the shoulder strap holds a snack or small cell phone while you ride

Walking on the Superior Hiking Trail

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

in my beautiful state of Minnesota. Used the Osprey. Always used a Camelbak 3 L before. Osprey--maybe a bit too small for my uses. But all the stuff that it has that my old CB didn't--awesome. Easier to fill without soaking the front of your shit. Very very light. Comfortable belting system. I like the reflectors/magnets on the cords BUT didn't like that the magnets (mouthpiece) attract dirt that has metal in it. Also, the way you get the water into your mouth requires a a brisk biting action on the valve--and I don't want to bust out my teeth--but I can see how it could happen. I love it otherwise--except the way you gotta bite it to get was--CB had a softer way to get the water. You CAN stuff your shirt etc into the back of it and pull the cording tight--it works--but you just cannot carry too much. I shoulda moved up one notch. Good for biking when you only need water but maybe for long treks, a bigger one with more room for packing stuff.

so far so good

The first Verve i bought was broken when i got it - particularly bad timing, as i was on my way out of town to do some bike touring. when i did finally get to use it, it seemed capable of holding water. It's still holding water, and i like it because it doesn't feel like having a backpack on when i'm biking.

Verve 4 or Verve 7.
Not sure which size would be better. I will only carry tire, pump, power bar, arm warmers and light shell.

Best Answer Responded on

Verve 7. The Verve 4 has just enough space for a power bar and your keys (and the light shell could bungee to the outside)... The 7 will have just enough space for you pump (so long as it is a small one), a tube, arm warmers, and your power bar. The light shell could bungee to the outside for when you need it.

If you wanted all that AND your shell stored on the inside, you might be better off with the Verve 10. It is still pretty small and it cinches down when you aren't using all of the internal space.
