This is my go-to pair of sunglasses. I've had multiple versions of the Radar and the Radarlock brings it up a notch. Two sets of lenses brings the entire package together. There isn't a better option out there.

The Starting Rotation

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I am a self-admitted addict when it comes to cycling glasses. These however, have found their way into my elite starting rotation.

It helps that they are Radarlocks, which is my favorite style, for several reasons. The fit is perfect, they are the lightest weight (and most well-balanced), the frameless (mostly) and single-lens design provides the best field of view, and they fog less than other other glasses I own.

I was a total sucker for the TdF Limited Edition as well, and probably would have bought them regardless of the lens tints, but I had high hopes for the +Red Iridiums and the G40s, although I did not have these tints in any other glasses.

The good: everything listed above.

The bad: I am disappointed in the +Red Iridium lenses. So far, they just are not impressing me. They cut down harsh light and the tint is nice, but it is just not all that pleasing or special, and does not really help with identifying terrain (I am a mountain biker). I know these are primarily designed for the road, but I just expected more. The lens tint is just kind of there.

On the flip side, the G40 lenses are outstanding. They allow enough light to be worn in any conditions, and really help with reading the trail. So much so that I pretty much just leave those lenses on all the time. On really bright days, I wear my Cavendish Radars with the Jade Iridium tint.

Rounding out the third pair in my starting rotation are my photochromic Radars in XL straight stem, but that is for another review.

I am still very happy with these, and recommend them highly. I bought them late in the season; I may be more impressed with the +Red Iridiums next summer. In the meantime, wearing them with the G40 lenses makes them my go-to shades for riding technical trails, and really everything else this time of the year.
