Nice entry level pairs!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This is my first pair of cycling shoes. They work well, especially for people with wide feet. People call me a "block footer." It is hard to find shoes that would fit my wide feet and this fit well. I guess you could pay more to get better shoes but for a newbie this will do.

I'm actually using these shoes but I can't use them with tightened straps. The ratcheting top strap will not sit square in the plastic loop to which it is attached, no matter how much adjustment is attempted with the velcro. This results in an already narrow strap only being effective on the side where it is tight in the loop, making for an uncomfortably narrow tight spot. I started out using them on rollers this winter and now have over 1,000 miles on them this summer. I returned the first pair because the right one was too narrow. The second pair wasn't much better but I figured I'd give them a shot. I shouldn't have. I had them long enough now that I'm using them for recreational rides with all of the straps loose and they're good enough to avoid some wear and tear on my good shoes. Live and learn.

Nice shoe but runs small

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
  • Fit:Runs small

Shoe looked great and had everything I wanted. The only problem is I went by the Northwave Size Chart that put me at a 42 or 42.5 (I'm a 9.5 to 10 US depending on sneaker brand). Those sizes were too small for me and I found out that I'm really a 43 in NW. Cool shoe but be sure to try them on at your LBS first or order a full size up from what the chart says.

    First pair of cycling shoes...

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:True to size

and I couldn't be more impressed for the price. The shoes feel solid, the stiff sole feels great, the micro adjust buckle gets the right amount of stability every time. I will definitely recommend these shoes to anyone who asks!

    great shoes with a defect

    • Gender:Male
    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

great shoes, very comfortable, but unfortunately defect with the top velcro stripe and no one could help me because i am in Bermuda?

so my problem was fix by a shoe maker but its not the same as new shoes if you know what i mean?

    Happy feet

I bought these to replace some Pearl Izumi All Road shoes that I used with Shimano SPD cleats. I wanted a true road shoe but I'm on a limited budget so these fit the bill. I had tried on a pair of the Fighter shoes, no ratchet strap, in a LBS so I knew my size was a 43. My PI shoes were also a 43. I wear between a 9 and 9 1/2 shoe in US sizes. I bought the Fighter SBS over a Giro shoe that I tried on in a different LBS because the Northwave shoe was a bit roomier in the toe box. The Giro's seemed like a good shoe but they were a bit too tight for my liking. I went with some Speedplay Light Action pedals and cleats and have put about 150 miles on the shoe/cleat/pedal combo and I'm a happy rider at this point. The shoes fit and feel great.

      Great Shoe

These shoes are still breaking in for me, but I'm very happy with the fit and stiffness. I'm coming off a pair of entry-level shoes that I actually cracked the sole on both cleats. These Northwave's are much much stiffer and overall fit is great. In my case, they ran a little small and I had to send the first pair back for a larger size, but realcyclist made the exchange easy. Again, these are stiff, comfortable and the closure straps/ratchet keep everything nice and snug. I even went with the blue color and love the looks of the shoe.

Im size 8 Us and Im just wondering what size fits me because I heard there was some rumors about the chart not being accurate. Thanks Cheers

I typically wear a 10.5 and that's what I ordered these shoes in. Unfortunately, I'm in the process of exchanging for a half size bigger. The 10.5 is snug, but I need just a little more wiggle room. My first experience with Northwave and I got the blue/white (they look so sick). everything about them feels quality from just riding around the parking lot, but I had to order a half size bigger.
