Digga. Bigga Digga. Smack Bigga Digga. Smack Bigga Digga Bounce. Big hits and high speed are two places where the Continental Digga 2.5 tire excels. The Digga snagged the Continental-IXS Downhill Cup and convinced Richie Schley that this was the tire for him. Continental agrees; they say this tire is best for 6" travel bikes and up. Continental has made this tread, like all its treads, for all-condition riding, with sharp edged lugs for maximum bite in an upright position.
Sticking the tire to dirt, rocks, trees, and even asphalt is the Continental Black Chili compound rubber. The Black Chili compound tread rubber is a great, grippy material. The Continental alchemists have milled traditional carbon black rubber down to nano-particles and then built it back into treads. The nano-sized rubber flecks -- think of a soccer ball on the face of the earth -- are able to actually put more rubber down on the trail in the same small area. It means 30% increased adhesion, 26% lower rolling resistance, and 5% improved mileage. Whenever the rubber grips, Black Chili will grip better, and from what we've seen early, it seems to shed dirt better, too. Carbon black rubber isn't boring anymore.
The rubber-covered sidewall is what Continental calls their Gravity Arc technology. It helps support the sidewall that means it's easier to run lower tire pressure, which reduces your chance of pinch-flatting. The Gravity Arc combined with a beefy 24 tpi cloth makes for a tire with fairly stiff sidewalls that won't fold under high speed or intense pressure.
The Continental Digga 2.5 tire has a 26" diameter and 2.5" width. The tread is made from Black Chili compound rubber. The casing is made from 24tpi cloth, overlapped twice under the tread. The tread and sidewalls are Black. The bead doesn't fold. Maximum inflation pressure is 58psi. 1200g.
