For all the weight that supposed to make Thomson stems strong, here's a shocker: the Thomson X4 Onepointfive stem, designed for 31.8mm handlebars only, is both stronger and lighter than their Elite stem. We don't understand how that happened, either, but we consider it the standard for all other Onepointfive stems to live up to. The X4 still sports the beefy handlebar clamp, but they went to the steerer clamp and ground out all the unnecessary metal. While it meant losing the knee-saving cam on the Elite, the new clamp bolts are pretty minimal. 31.8 diameter clamp. Available only in anodized black with a zero degree rise and 45mm length. 169g
