One Point Five (1.5) is the overbuilt standard for those most
slammin' jammin' rides and riders when the bike is a bucking bronco even
with 7" front and rear. With the Syncros FR Onepointfive Stem,
they've jumped on the one point five bandwagon -- it's just like the FR
Stem, only bigger and badder.
The Syncros FR Onepointfive Stem is designed so that the stem, not the faceplate, takes the majority of the downward forces put on the
stem. The lower lip of the stem helps cradle the bar in the stem's
strong arms. The advantage to this is more stress on the larger,
stronger metal of the stem, and less on the four bolts holding the stem
in place -- smart thinking. Another intelligent design is what Syncros
calls, the "extra deep rear bias cut." This design makes it so the
clamping stress on the steerer tube is spread over a wide area, making
it extremely unlikely that an overzealous rider will damage his steerer
tube when preparing the bike for a day of extreme bashing.
The Syncros FR Onepointfive Stem is designed for extreme
freeride and DH cycling. It is forged from 6061 aluminum and CNC
machined to be lightweight. The black chrome bolts used for the face
place (four) and the steerer tube clamp (two) are 20% stronger than
conventional bolts and resist corrosion better than standard bolts. The
stem comes in a 20-degree rise and is 50mm in length. The stem is
designed for a 1-1/2" steerer tube and with a 31.8mm handlebar clamp.
The stem is available in Bead Blasted Black or Matte White. In both
cases the faceplate is black. 220g.
