Just looking at the logo emblazoned on the MRP G2 chain guide makes us nostalgic for the heavy-metal-helmed sessions in the back lot. Screeching chords drowning out metal grinding on metal, metal grinding on cement, pads squealing on rotors.

The MRP G2 chain guide is the new go-to guide from MRP. With this guide, no bash ring is needed. The spine of the guide, the backing plate, is made from 5mm thick aluminum alloy and CNC-machined for optimum shape. The clear polycarbonate skid plate is strong and, if you’re into breaking stuff, replaceable.

The skid plate attaches to the backing plate, or boomerang in MRP parlance, in three places. The third is by the lower guide and integrates with the guide. The skid is designed to sit 2mm inboard of the chainring for maximum protection. It also protects the lower guide.

The upper guide looks like a polycarbonate front derailleur -- that’s what they had in mind when they designed it. Old-skool types have long used a cable-less front derailleur fixed in position with adjustment screws as a cheap chain guide. The lower guide has a 9 tooth jockey wheel running on a sealed bearing. Both guides are adjusted up and down with a single bolt mounted to the boomerang.

The MRP G2 chain guide works with 36-40 tooth front chainrings. The guide comes with a boomerang that works with ISCG or ISCG -05 mount -- simply select the mount that is appropriate for your frame. If your bike doesn’t have the ISCG tabs, choose the ISCG mount and purchase the ISCG adapter (#MR-21-2-042) separately. 260g.
