If you want Mavic quality in a 29er rim, you have to go with a Mavic rim. The Mavic TN719 rim is designed for 29ers with the hallmarks of Mavic’s other top-end rims. The rim is drawn from Maxtal aluminum and welded via their unique SUP seam process. Smooth to the point of invisible.
Mavic likes to get mysterious with their nomenclature. Thankfully, they have decided to take the mystery out of the MTB rims. TN is the 29er version of XM, which is the abbreviation for Cross Mountain. The first digit is the level of the rim, with 1 entry level and nine pro, divided into three divisions, level 1, 2, and 3. Even numbers for the first digit denote UST rims. The last two digits are the ETRTO dimesion for rim width, which is measured internally. Therefore, the TN719 is a Cross Mountain 29er, in Mavic’s level three with a 19mm internal width.
The Mavic TN719 rimis designed for 29ers and is disc specific. The rim is extruded from Mavic’s Maxtal aluminum and has the SUP process finished seams. It has single eyelets around the 32 or 36 spoke nipple holes and is traditionally drilled through the rim. Mavic recommends spoke tensions of 105-110kgf (kilogram-force) for the 32h versions and 90-110kgf for the 36h versions. The ETRTO compatible size: 622 x 19c. Recommended nipple length is 12 mm. Recommended rim tape dimensions are 622 x 20 x 0.6. Recommended tire widths go from 1.50” to 2.30”. Black. 510g.
